Good movie, not great. Predictable plot and familiar beats. Basically, a crowd pleasing film but so many other better movies out there, I just don't understand the hype.

Here is my attempt in no specific order:
    A Few Good Men
    Tropic Thunder
    Edge of Tomorrow
    Minority Report
    Jerry McGuire

Honorable Mentions (It truly is impossible to name just 5 so here is my copout):
    The Firm
    Rain Man
    Entire Mission Impossible Franchise

Plenty of other good movies in his filmography, including good ones like both Top Guns, but I'll watch Legend or Risky Business first if either is running on my TV, or most of his filmography, before watching any Top Gun movie. I like them as popcorn entertainment films, just nowhere near as good as his other movies.

By today's standards, that movie is interstellar.

Lol how could you miss his real best of the best, Days of Thunder. Imo better than both Top Gun films combined and don't why a remake or sequel was or is not in the works.

It goes to show what a great actor he is that everyone has a different top 5. Days of Thunder is middle of the pack for me. I would rather watch Collateral.

Predictable plot with numerous holes, campy dialog, unrealistic final mission copied from Star Wars.......and I loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of it.

Granted, I loved the 1st one and watch it every time it comes on TV, but I'm real cynical when it comes to your typical "summer blockbuster" type movie. But this one was awesome. Will probably see it again, actually.

Biggest complaint is the whole mach 10 thing at the beginning. I didn't think that was necessary and probably could have been cut alltogehter from the movie. I did, however, laugh out loud when he walked into that diner and asked where he was and the kid said "earth."
