You're welcome. Your posts are really insightful. Great to go at it back & forth with you on this interesting topic, hotter and hotter as we move closer to the Day. Actually I was thinking of him as the long term answer at the 1! I view him as a pretty solid version of a Cade Cunningham. Yeah you can see, I'm rather optimistic about the kid.☺️ KPJ would then go back to battling for the bulk of his minutes at the 3 with KMJ, while hopefully waiting for the long term solution next draft as you envision it. No long term role for J. Tate in that scenario. I'm very optimistic for the development of Jalen Green's defense, especially on small guards. We saw some glimpses later on. So Jalen Williams would nicely complement him in that end of the floor too, taking care of the opposing bigger guard with his looong arms. I don't know if a Dalen Terry can be added later in the second round for cash, to bolster the contingent of SF hopefuls to develop long term. His potential seems intriguing too. Is this draft really that weak...
Well some would say this draft only has about 14 picks, but I agree with you that there are some hidden gems drawn out 25 deep in the first round. Solid role players abound. Me personally, i'm fine with pick #3 and best rim protecting/rebounder with #17. But there's this thing about moving players like EGo, Tate?, Kenyon?, Nwaba, Wood?, John Wall that presents an opportunity to package players and then picks to possibly move up in the draft. Thunder just made a trade yesterday for JaMychal Green that I find interesting. They have the money to absorb that contract; but will they? Where does Chet or Banchero.....or Ivey fit in that? Anyway... __________________________ You threw me for a loop with your reply. I thought I was setting you up for a why draft a 6'5" Jalen Williams to play the 3 when Kevin Porter Jr at 6'5-ish can do everything equally....and KPj been playing vs NBA competition for a few years now. Wow, ok, you project Jalen Williams possibly as a combo guard in the future? That might be crazy enough to work!?! I am searching for mobile, athletic, fast, long wingspan players between the height of 6'6" to 6'9" for switch everything 3&D guys. Now that 6'6" to 6'9" is just a baseline.....I accept a Jalen Green as 6'5"-ish because he plays way above the rim. Ivey at 6'4" does the same. There are some 7-footer coming into the league that also bust that trend or mold of 6'9". As long as they are mobile and can run the floor with fast PACE, contest 3's. Hitting 3's is an added plus. You turned the tables on me. Caught me off guard. But that's good. You made my day. Given me food for thought. Take care. You should post more often.
Because they think it will help cover some of the Rockets defensive deficiencies by allowing the Rockets to draft a 4/5 that is a better team defender than Banchero. People also believe that he can thing play along side Sengun. I had a couple scouts tell me 4-6 weeks ago that Banchero is a PF in the NBA and not a SF, so I am very skeptical that he will be a SF. Even with all of that said, if he is the best player on the board at #3, you take him.
Grant Williams played great against Giannis but he's been bad in the final. Boston problem is pretty much like us in 2018. We basically play our best 7-8 guys and not versatile enough. I know what you are thinking. Isn't GSW the same? Well they sometime throw different look at you. Payton, Bjelica, Kuminga don't get regular min but they play a bit to mess up with Boston defense. It's like Boston only has one defense game plan. When Curry sit down they suddenly don't know what to do on defense.
Banchero is definitely a PF. We are the worst team in the NBA. I think we are worrying to much. We are still looking for our stars. Green played well for 1/4 of the season, but we still don't know if he's the guy. How about finding our stars first then start worrying other thing to build around them.
He is going to be an average to above average shooter. I don't think he is going to be in the class of shooters like Durant and Curry, but I think that he can be in the 37-40% from 3 type class eventually with hard work. He needs to work on shooting off the pass and not putting the ball on the floor. He is already good at putting the ball on the floor and scoring.
Yes, I'm guessing that and from the footage as well......but Mark Williams alters a lot of shots. Doesn't block every shot......I expect Banchero to come in a clean the boards on those missed shots. If Im asking Banchero to be the defensive anchor and stay at home base more often..... what will that do to Banchero's point totals? His blocks and rebounds would go up though? Right? So what am I looking at stat wise: PF: 12 points....9 rebs......3.5 Asts as SF: 15 points....6 rebs......4 Asts This is why I showed Ivey stats in Blk% and Reb%.......he also played defense on the perimeter. Jabari Smith also played defense on the perimeter. Chet as well.
I mean what does that even mean in todays NBA? 3s a quicker, 4s stronger? 3s smaller? On offense every player needs to be able to hit 3s. On defense every player needs to be able to defend the pick and roll. The difference between a SF and a PF is getting more and more minuscule. so why are we talking about Banchero playing SF? Because it gives us flexibility and it shows, that he is quick enough to guard smaller guys. But basically we could go super small with him as a C or really big with him, Wood and Sengun (or Williams or any rim protector we draft). And both formations would give many teams problems…
To be sure. I often wanted Cayleigh Griffin to ask at halftime, "Coach, another half where the team gives up 70 points. Do you guys even coach defense? Do our players even care?" "Uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh....."
How about #23 + DGreen + Bassey for EGo trade? Then use #17 + #23 to move into lottery to draft Eason. KPJ Green Eason Banchero Bassey With Sengun + Wood first off bench and in death lineup.
I wish we could workout jalen duren without arousing suspicion. but , I’m very interested in him . I think he’s one of the better physical talents that the draft has produced at center in a decade . To be young and that good on an athlete (with the Covid) speaks to his ability to stay on the right path and his raw athletic talent . he’s my dream get at 7 if we trade for por . I’d be surprised if he’s still there at 10 and would throw a lot at WAS to make a deal . I think he could go 5. Good fit with cade and bey and grant and even Stewart . Combo stoudamire / Dwight in an open era Is something like the dream case . Sengun will either adapt and continue to improve or he won’t . You gotta take a hard look at duren . Not at 3 tho , banchero is too high upside and already higher in skill . Nbadraft net has him going 17 to us in our mock . This is a guy you can make a case will be the best player in the draft in 5-10 years .
