Sorry about the cryptic message, it was intentional. Remember the April 1st joke where we switched the morning and afternoon guys? Well we’re not doing that. We are actually doing something that not ONE person in Houston will complain about. We are “turning the wheel”. We have eliminated some spots, cut the time allocated to traffic and weather. We’ve shortened the SportsCenter updates (we will still deliver all of the information but it will be in a terse scores and highlights only kinda way) and basically cleared up about 5 and a half minutes per hour of fat that was on the station. Now all of our local shows will run a little different. For example we don’t rush off to a break at 8 o’clock on the nose. Instead the show will be live from 7:53 until 8:05.

It’s gonna be good all around.

    Chance,

I don't know if you had any prior experience in sports radio, but just wanted to let you know -- you are doing a heck of a job.

but will the cut fat be filled with talk ?

sounds like your making more room for even more commercials, which is the primary reason why I stopped listening to 610, 10 straight minutes of commericals got to be just too annoying

No we cut the number of commericals...a practice unheard of in radio. We cleared commercials. There are less commercials than we have ever had. There is no spin or fine print. There are simply fewer commercials. It will be filled with talk. No new corny segments or bits. Just plain old Sports Talk. That is as clear as I can put it.

Is that what the other cryptic commercial is about? "We've read your letters, we've heard your calls, and we will",or is that the bagpipe one also? I listen to 610 a lot, but my brain has been fried lately . . .

    That's the bagpipe commercial.

Thanks for the explanation Chance!!! I've always felt 610 had too many commercials, but as a whole, the station is definitely better than the other local sports radio alternatives. If anyone is ever down on 610, please spend a little time listening to The Ticket in Dallas. You WILL appreciate Houston sports talk!!!
