Hope there’s a “must play defense” clause
    And not fully guaranteed-

A lot of that has to do with the environment the Rox are trying to lose gsmes so thats gonna rub on Wood. He isnt an alpha so obviously he will go with the flow. But at the same time he isnt a malcontent so if he goes to a team that has a legit superstar then he will thrive and succeed, pretty similar to Wiggins. I dunno why you think je doesnt have that positive attitude he does, in fact the young players like Green see him as a big brother and connect with him even off the court.

If Wood had that mamba mentality he would also be a superstar given his skillset and natural talent. But at 15M you dont expect a superstar or even an all star.

The Rox are losing so we are fault finding and as the "star" CWood is getting blamed. But he was obtained to be the 3rd guy beside JWall and Harden, it aint his fault those 2 arent on thr court. Itd be like if we are blaming Clint Capela for not carrying the team if Cp3 and Harden are both out. Imagine the stats Capela would have out there if he has KPJ and Green as his point guards lol.

Most of y'all are forgetting CWood was pretty good when he had JWall and Dipo beside him last year.

That applies to a lot of players including Trae Young. In a real team he wouldnt be the first option he would be the 2nd or even 3rd option so it evens out.

Conceding paint pts instead of 3s? Wood hit 39% from 3 contested or not thats still a big asset for a big man look at how much Davis Bertans got paid and that dude does nothing but shoot 3s cant score in the paint and cant rebound like Wood.

    1. Well first of all you said trades as well as free agent signings, maybe you forgot the Harden, WB and Sengun trades? The Harden trade was franchise changing, we could have been scammed by Ben Simmons RN instead of having the Nets picks for the next 7 yrs.

    2. CWood was a great signing and convincing Boogie was a good move at the time. Cwood has given us 18 10 on 39% from 3 for only 15M a year, now we are looking at receiving assets for the last year of his deal which is great for someone he signed "for free". Thies was a bad signing but Stone was able to correct that immediately. It shows he isnt blinded by his own hubris and does have the capability to make adjustments and adapt his vision for the team accordingly.

    3. Stone doesnt have to prove ****. He already proved himself with the draft and trade strats of the Rockets. He has checked so many boxes during his short tenure it is insane. At worst he is an above average GM in the league which is about all you can hope for.

At the very least I can say Stone has done a better job managing the Rockets than Morey has managed the Sixers. And Morey is highly rated so Stone cant be that bad.

Terrible in free agency, but that will change very quickly once we have a winning team, that great players from other teams actually want to join...

It's still only rumor or conjecture at this point, right? Nothing is set in stone yet - talks are just talks until we hear something official. I really thought the Ivey angle was a smokescreen. Maybe this means KPJ is out and Wood is in. Man we will really need to address defense with the other pick.

I'm holding out for a trade up to get Chet. S&T Wood to sweeten the deal with OKC seems possible.

I wish Clint Capela had a jump shot and then we kept him …

I wished C Wood had been better consistency on D and maybe a year or 2 younger , then we kept him ….

    Darn it lol

The same Trae Young that literally led his team to the ECF's a year ago, getting his first playoff run at only 22. Hes actually proven he can impact winning at that level. No it doesn't apply to him. absolutely 0 correlation

Bingo. It's all these empty stats losers that the same folks around here are fascinated with.

I think it could be good depending on the situation...

Let's say he gets max money for 3 more years through 2025-26. Fewer years means younger age to free agency.

If we line up Wood's deal to expire when Green is due an extension, we may get one more bite at the apple for a max free agent in 2025. IF KPJ has an extension and we have the #3 pick, there should still be ample cap space left even if keeping Sengun, Christopher, Martin, etc.

Wood is a quality backup if that's what he is for us. My main concerns are locker room and defense... maybe we are making a bigger deal of them than the front office sees?

Wood is an incomplete player. He's a guy who can rebound and space the floor. You just have to have the right guys around him to hide the flaws.

If they somehow get Mark Williams, he and Wood could be a good second unit combo...

I really don't know why some on here wants to give Wood so much money. Like why? Because we have his bird rights and will have capspace? I don't know why this is a thing.

If you're going to give the max to Wood then you should probably entertain the idea of giving Ayton a max via S&T first. At least he plays on both ends of the court.

they get mesmerized by 20 and 10 in 20 point L’s and don’t know how to value players

it’s obvious to anyone paying attention that Wood has no place here

Stone wants to build chemistry and then add a piece here and there, it is a big departure from Morey who was chaos roster man......

Different approach, let's see if it works.

Wood is Enes Kanter, but with a completely different offensive game. He's a remarkably talented offensive big who can boast some pretty nice stats and advanced metrics, but he's so bad on the defensive side of the ball, he's a net negative to your team and unplayable at times against some rosters. Kanter got 4 years, $70 million for OKC back in 2015, and they were lucky to be able to move him two years later for a washed up Melo.

We know who Wood is, and the Rockets' front office should, too. Just because they'll have the cap space doesn't mean they have to use it on a guy they know isn't going to realistically help them win basketball games and who will likely take away minutes from players in need of that development. If they extend him, they're making a pretty big mistake, IMO.
