Agree 100%….sign him at all costs. Would consider 25 million a year to be fair. Team can’t afford to lose his height…we’re already too short.

Cheer up, didn't you hear? C. Wood is getting an extension! The draft is around the corner, we got a good young core and plenty of draft capital moving forward!

Wood is by far the best and most talented big we have. When healthy he contributed nicely

If he just leaned harder into being a "pick and roll" player instead of a "pick and pop" guy, he'd fit REALLY well with these other offensive creators. He's much better than anyone wants to admit, but he 100% needs to be reeled into his role.

We all saw how great Wood looked next to an alpha like Harden for those few games. He can be great, but he has to back off the "my team" throttle big time! But, if the dude accepted his role, there's no reason he couldn't be a much more versatile Al Horford type. That's a seriously valuable piece.

I think if you want to trade him, an extension makes him more attractive. It immediately sets his market value financially, so teams know what they owe in the long-term. 12M is fine for this season, but what if he wants 25M/yr as part of an extension? He becomes a lot less attractive, and as a UFA, he could jet. I don't see Wood's value as a one-season player or an expiring. Anyone who trades for him will want some assurance he'll be there for at least a few more years at an affordable number.

He also may move up relative to other trade-rumored players. If Wood's extension lands in the 15-20M/year range (which is likely), he might immediately become a much more attractive player than Jeremi Grant who will likely command something closer to the 30M/year range (who knows, he might even want/get more). Do you trade for a 28 yo Grant and invest in him that type of money, or trade for a 26 yo Wood who is signed to a contract commensurate with a strong starter but not the lead player? I think you probably take the latter, especially if you're a Charlotte, NY, Atlanta, Philadelphia, or other team looking to fill that spot.

Wood's numbers don't account for how he kills chemistry and development for the rest of the team.

People are calling this a fixer upper like a beat down crack house with a hush hush people dying inside.

Well the neighbors are getting roaches, termites and bedbugs while you're looking for the flip.

Stone seems to get emotionally vested in the players, which leads to overpaying his friends. Thats the only justification I can come up with by actions. If this is the SIGN before the TRADE than I couldn’t be any happier. I think some of Stone’s best work is Wood, Porter, Tate & Martin & their contracts accordingly.

The best statement I read today is they make decisions knowing all the facts. To that I will add

-we need to get use to not needing to please Harden (superstar).

-Our team needs to cash-in on every single player. (Churning players)

-Timing out on player’s contracts like Gordon and Wall is better than taking on bad contracts that take roster spots.

I don't think these two were bad contracts.Theis was traded. The 2 year extension offer to Oladipo was horrible. I'm relieved he declined it. Wood needs to play at his best in this contract year. Unfortunately Stone and Silas are enamoured by his potential unicorn capabilities.

Did you watch KPJ and JG when Wood was sitting out?

Like Carmelo, like Russ, Christian Wood is a talented net negative that hurts you everywhere on the floor. I don't want that around my teenagers.
