He was a sitting judge on the US Court of Appeals. So yea, when officials are directly impacted, suddenly the needle is moved. It's why I'm a firm believer that military service should be mandatory for all citizens (definitely including the kids of politicians).
of course they impact the law. it's their job to interpret what the statute says. but some of y'all need a basic refresher in civics and the American system of government. The Dance of Legislation is a good place to start, but that may be too much if you honestly have no understanding of the separation of powers, and the role of each of the three independent branches of government.
