After not really having a Rocket purely drafted for what seems like a decade, Rockets fans have become like John Nash from the film "A Perfect Mind" crazedly trying to hoard as many top 10 draft assets in one draft as possible! After getting a taste of three first round picks in 2021, Rockets fans have obviously become addicted to that smack of ripe young talent without pot bellies and fresh young faces without beards! Stay tuned, as things look to be spiraling! Upwards or downwards?!? You decide!

I would argue that it was really Les Alexander who gave Morey the mandate to rebuild without ever allowing the team to lose. But yeah. We're super draft hungry right about now. And as much as it has sucked to watch our Rockets lose the last two years, I'm ready for year 3! Wemby or bust!

I mean...unless you're a destination city most of the time you need those top picks to build around if you want to win.

I said in another thread, I don't want the quick fix/band aid of free agency. I don't want to live and die on trades and buyouts again. I want one of the chip worthy teams that have built around a couple of draftees that blew up. Green and Banchero will lead this team to chips in 2027, 2029 and 2030.

If you're gonna start a thread, you can at least spell Darren Murray's name correctly.

I think Morey did a great job as GM of the rockets. But the one thing I always stridently disagreed with was his neglect of the draft. He was actually a pretty good judge of draft talent (case in point he tried to move up to draft Booker), but he traded away too many draft picks for very little return and we spent way too many years without replenishing our talent through the draft. Capela was the last rocket we really drafted and developed under Morey. And I dare anyone to tell me that a lack of attention to draft capital wasn’t Morey’s biggest oversight.

Kevin Durant joining the Warriors was Moery's biggest oversight.

There's something unique about watching your own picks develop into a team. There's chemistry. The highs and lows. The journey. The stability of faces. I like where we're positioned going into the future. It will be fun to watch, even if we never get above a 3 seed (which I doubt will be the case).

You know, it takes some vision to imagine the NBA in three years. Warriors will be exiting their prime. Bulls might be peaking. Hornets might be peaking. Portland might be in Seattle. Grizz might be a dynasty. Suns might have Valančiūnas or Turner. Rockets might win 50 games.

I like Morey but I hated his draft approach because I’ve always enjoyed the draft. It sucks when your team isn’t usually very involved with it.

In general, most draftees will not live up to the 'value' of their draft pick... like a new car, most draftees lose value the minute you drive em off the lot...

In general, I prefer proven commodities...

but when in rebuild yer trying to catch lightning in a bottle...
