Excellent summary, Bima! Laid out for us in awesome detail. Heck, I'd forgotten all about that 2024 unprotected 2nd round pick from Brooklyn, and good to see that we have the cash to pick up a 2nd, possibly for an overseas stash, if we want to. What really intrigues me, and it's been talked about a little already, is the possibility of picking up Mo Bamba with our NT-MLE, if we have the roster spot (and he wants to come here). I'm all for doing that, the only caveat for me being if we grab one of the excellent bigs in this draft.

Starting MO BAMBA over Alperen Sengun. Might as well sign and start Gary Harris over Jalen Green.

While we are at it, Mo Bamba and rim protection in the same sentence is highly amusing. Y'all need to get off the wingspan measurements webpage.

It's too bad we traded Llull rights, otherwise we could of probably made him a rich offer next year.:rolleyes:

The last season of being dreadful is coming! Exciting times, hopefully Silas gives run to guys like Queen and Nix instead of the vets.

If we managed to sign Mo Bamba with the idea of him playing the starting Center,
Would Chris Wood he just great as the staring Power Forward.
As you mentioned that Sengun would play the back up Big Man.
Which would be just great for his limited ability. Y

    Greatstuff as usual from Bima

However, with all the roster spots taken and Silas at the helm, I would be happy just moving wood and other vets out of the way for playing time. The Mo Bamba flyer is intriguing but we already will have Wood clogging up the middle and taking much needed PT

    Like this idea.

Bamba would provide rim protection while he and Wood space floor for Banchero.

Sengun can still play 30+ mins off bench.

Sign Mo, trade Wood, draft Paolo.

Having a big man rotation of Paolo-Mo-Sengun and a guy like Fernando (even if it isn't Fernando himself) to play the 4th role depending on matchups and foul trouble sounds intriguing. I don't think that's a team that wins much, but that's ok. It's still interesting.

We'd also have KJ and Tate available for occasional (small) big man minutes.

Mo Bamba is 9'7" of fire hydrant. Dude is mentally slow and can't move.

Rockets need to trade EGo and CWood into other team's cap space or trade exception. At the very least trade them away for less salary to create room under the cap. Accept a lower return. Maybe a couple seconds or a second and pick swap rights to a first for Wood....and a lower second for EGo (Memphis).

Then use cap space to offer Hartenstein a deal for like 3 years-$51 million that the Clippers can't beat. Give him the starting nod. Partial guaranteed in season 2. Non-guaranteed in season 3. And player option on season 3.

Hartenstein is the same age as Bamba. And he's the type of big that teams can win a championship with. Switchable defender. Very effective rim defender. Very active all over the court defensively. And he can finally hit the 3-ball like we wanted him to do when he was here.

Hartenstein turns into a trade asset at the trade deadline for a contender. Could become worth two first round picks. Or we keep him.

In today's NBA, big men are not worth drafting high or paying more than below mid-level exception for extended years unless they are great switch defenders and can hit the 3. Even the old style drop centers that can hit the 3 have limited value. Because when you get to championship level play, they are hunted for mismatches.

Mo Bamba cannot switch defend nor even sniff the court when it comes to playoff basketball right now. He's simply not quick enough. He doesn't process at game speed. Hartenstein does. He's proven it. Winner everywhere he's been. Hartenstein's basketball iq dwarfs Mo the stiff.

We can create the space to sign Hartenstein outright by agreeing to trade EGo/Wood away for less salary. Then we use the threat of signing Hartenstein away to get the Clippers to cooperate in a sign-and-trade that allows us to operate as an over-the-cap team.

Need to find deals for EGo and Wood at the draft that give us the option to operate as a cap space team, agree to the deals, and hold them until after the moratorium.
