I would not count on playing Sengun and Banchero together, not for many minutes anyway. And not next season, especially early. It's one thing to say Banchero and Sengun can improve their defense and 3ball, it's another thing entirely to do it. Let's see how well they play together in training camp and preseason first. In the interim, find a way to add the best defensive player in the draft, trade and/or FA.
Thinking about my dream draft .... coming away with Chet & Eason. You know what really sucks? .... the likelihood that OKC could draft both at 2 & 12. FML.
Did you even notice Boston beating GS at their own game? "defense matters defense matters" when 3's were falling left and right for the C's??? GS missed gimme shot after gimme shot in the 4th not because of some stellar defensive performance the Warriors still shot 42% from 3!!! Boston shot 50% from 3!! Oh yeah super awesome defense was being played last night in a game where both teams scored more than 105 points and these teams finished #1 and #2 in team defense this year. But yes contextually defense DOES matter. You continue to create weird situations in your own mind like anyone is arguing otherwise. I guess getting buckets are less important? Poole is an all time great shooter already? Damn that was quick! I couldnt tell by last nights game he stunk it up, but its still only game 1.
What did D'antoni bring to Houston??? Same thing McHale did... Warriors do not play like a D'antoni team. They incorporate a ton of movement and they are always at the top of the league for mid range shots.
Banchero/Daniels/Williams is my dream draft. We trade Wood+Gordon+future 1st for Charlotte #13 and Hayward + scrub to draft Daniels. Then scoop Williams at #17. KPJ Green KMJ Banchero Sengun Daniels/Williams/Christopher off the bench. With Hayward + Rando other vet as depth. Nix/Queen round out the bench.
I agree with this, but I think you probably still take him if the other two are gone. This team needs bigs desperately, otherwise I’d go Ivey over Chet, but the need probably outweighs the risk in this case.
I agree with this as well - Chet is still a unicorn and as long as we have him on a rookie contract, he will have high level value around the league so worst case you flip him down the road for someone else's draft asset. The things he does well tend to translate to the NBA so I think his floor is relatively high if nothing else and if the only question mark is "will he stay healthy", I think we have found there are always teams willing to take a risk on young talent if they otherwise have a hard time attracting it in FA. You just can't be the one holding the dynamite when they are ready for their max contract(see Porzingis).
108 game is not high score in today's NBA. If you could not see the defense in the 4th I'm not sure how I can even talk to you anymore. You've gone completely Looney tunes. The best shooting team was shut down in the 4th. Only SIXTEEN points total scored. Are you really this warped that you completely missed this? oh yes, 3ball is also critical in modern NBA. That's why I scream for more defense AND 3ball shooting EVERY offseason and trade deadline. But you keep doing you playmaker. Adding players you HOPE can be better defenders AND average 3ball shooters is YOUR solution.
Did you even know that Boston had a better offensive rating than GS during regular season? Boston is also only slightly behind GS in offensive rating during the playoffs. Should we define "warped" ?? As far as basketball is concerned - GS allowed Boston to shoot wide open shot after wide open shot during the 4th Q. Are they not a good defensive team? What happened on their home court? GS has lost the defensive intensity that they enjoyed during the regular season IMO Miami had a better defense than Boston and lost. Same with Milwaukee but they dealt with the injury bug. Hell Boston sat the defensive player of the year while they went on their offensive tear!! Elite Offense > Elite Defense but YES BALANCE IS IMPORTANT!! Explain what you mean by "shut down" when GS had plenty of opportunities to keep up with Boston and just kept missing open shots. You peg college players a certain way on your own account and stick your head in the sand when more reputable scouts and analysts disagree with your amatuer assessment. You say Banchero is a average shooter and less than average defender and yet the deep dives disprove you. You have REAL COACHES that value what Paolo brings to a team and you have the nerve to call them "shills" You NEVER pick specialist defenders who have not shown an ability to LEAD at the top of the draft and rationalize it with "they are good 3 point shooters" that's what I would consider warped.
16 total points allowed in 4th quarter. That is DEFINITION of defensive shut down. Explain that away. I know you have some crazy ass reason for it that undermines a starting 5 composed of 3 plus defenders, 2 of which are ELITE. Can't wait for your self contorting, long winding and facts limited explanations. Should be hilarious. And FYI - I've never said Paolo is average shooter, I said he was not efficient. Which is backed by his TS% and EFG%. You are hysterical right now. And not in the funny way.
Your mental gymnastics are pretty cringe dude. I'll just allow Draymond Green to explain it to you, but I guess you'll just retort "What does Draymond Green know" or some other typical deflection of yours. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...4b5ab4-e2f0-11ec-ae64-6b23e5155b62_story.html
So you and Draymond claim that there was no special defense played in the 4th by Celts? LOL Tell Draymond that Celts knocked down 21 3balls and GSW shot 19. Wow - what a wide discrepancy there huh?
