Here are the on pace leaderboards (from FanGraphs) for the Astros if they played the same percentage of games at how well they've played so far.
Just give Montero and Abreu the Joint Cy Young: 130 IP, 20-0, 10 Sv, 1.67 ERA, 1.00 WHIP Also, Altuve's HR:RBI ratio is awesome.
Fire Dusty! That is unacceptable! Should be 35-0! They are not hitting and it is ALL Dusty’s fault! His dumbass lineups! /s
I fully expected the Angels to cool off once they started dealing with better competition, but damn. With Thor looking less impressive,I really think they are gonna struggle to win 90 games. Having said that this recent stretch doesn't mean they're trash. I've never really had much concern about them, so that hasn't really changed. Our roster depth is simply a lot better.
How long until we reach the end of the trends? Play 29x4 116 regular season games with 1 2 game H and 1 2 game A with 29 teams. Then seed every team into an extended playoff series with each round being a seven game series to maximize the number of playoff games and eliminate those pesky divisions and leagues. Round 1 15 x 7 games 105 games 30 teams Round 2 8 x 7 games 56 games 16 teams 15 winners plus 1 loser Quar-Finals 4 x 7 games 28 ganes 8 teams Semi-Finals 2 x 7 games 14 games 4 teams WS 7 games 2 teams Up to 151 games played in a season by the Finalists. Players love the shorter season. Owners love the playoff money which replaces lost ticket revenue from 23 fewer regular season home games. Even the worst team plays 120 games and is in the playoffs. I'm a traditionalist. But I recognize the trends. It would pressure MLB to add 2 more teams to get symmetry and add 8 more games to the regular season or 4 home game and eliminate the loser in round 2. After expansion Play 31x4 124 regular season games with 1 2 game H and 1 2 game A with 31 teams. Then seed every team into an extended playoff series with each round being a seven game series to maximize the number of playoff games and eliminate those pesky divisions and leagues. Round 1 16 x 7 games 112 games 32 teams Round 2 8 x 7 games 56 games 16 teams Quar-Finals 4 x 7 games 28 ganes 8 teams Semi-Finals 2 x 7 games 14 games 4 teams WS 7 games 2 teams Up to 159 games played in a season by the Finalists. . Even the worst team plays 128 games (124 reg + 4 PS) and is in the playoffs. Up to 217 playoff games! It's MLB Nirvana. Or double these and play year round.
Dead ball and expanded playoffs are tailor-made for a team that has some great hitters that smack the **** out off the ball, but lacks depth. If they some how can't make the playoffs this year, that's gotta be rough for Angels fans.
On to KC. Trivia - It's the ONLY MLB park outside of Houston where I attended a game. We were closing down the KC Office of Panhandle Eastern and moving off WESTHEIMER in 1988. It was a beautiful Park.
Angels (-2.8 fWAR for sub-replacement players). Unlike the Astros (-1.8) who's problems are limited to 2 positions, any injuries or guys getting banged up will really hurt them. The Angels sub-replacement level players basically cancel out Trout.
McCormick, Hunter Brown, Leon and Korey Lee (since they like dealing away young catchers) for Trout. Get it done, Click.
Lol. I know it's never happening but the Astros could actually probably put together one of the best offers for Trout if he ever became available. Angels would be smart to trade him too
It's hilarious to see you in Astros threads supporting Baker when you've trashed the rest of the team throughout your posting in here. I guess you have a weird affinity for crappy coaches/managers
