I am not a salary guy like many of you on here so I don't know if this could work. But what would it take to land KMart and perhaps K.Kittles.

Espn reports that the Nets might be shopping both to cut salary:
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1830866

If we could send MoTaylor and Pike with the trade exception in a sign and trade our team could look like this (assuming that the McGrady trade is going to come through):

    PG free agent (BB, etc)
    SG McGrady/Kittles
    SF JJ/Howard/A Griffin
    PF KMart/Howard
    C Yao/ free agent

I like it. Could it work?

MoT/Pike/TE for another all-star? Why didn't anyone else figure this offer is one of the best in the league?

Under KMart's current salary, this trade would work salary-wise. Unfortunately, he's demanding the MAX. Whether he's worth it is another subject of debate :p

Martin would fit into the JVG system defensively. Overall, I'd say he's a good one-on-one defender. However, offensively I think he'd struggle. We need a PF that can hit the open jump shot whenever Yao gets doubled down low, and his shot is really inconsistent. NJ is a running team and has had trouble in a half-court set the past few seasons. He's also a bit undersized to play in the west IMHO.

Putting all that aside though, KMart is much better than Taylor. I really doubt NJ would give him up for Mo's bloated contract.

Oh... I love smartass remarks in place of informed responses. Makes BBC such a nice place. Did you read the article?! Is states that the NETS are in salary dump mode. That means it is a buyers market. Is it fair value? No. But it would give the Nets an offensive minded PF (which they need) and another shooter in Pike and some much needed cap relief.

I hate when people can't respond with anything other than insults.

I agree. You have no idea what BBC is about other than posting thousands of insults instead of productive comments.

you wouldn't have to worry about it if you would post a trade that actually had a chance of happening.

Kenyon Martin wants a long term max contract, now how do you suppose that'll fit in with McGrady's max contract and in 2 years the max contract Yao signs. It DOESN"T WORK, come up with a trade involving role players and it might get taken a little more serious.

    Agreed.

Sorry dconover, you seem pissed because people are downing this ridiculous trade offer, but why? Just because the Nets are in 'salary dumping mode' doesn't mean you can come up with ANY stupid offer and think that the other 28 teams won't beat it. It sounds like YOU didn't put a lot of thought into this and now you're upset. Get over it man.

    being greedy, what about Kmart?

NJ is apparently feeling like they can't afford RJ, KM and JK and might deal KM mainly to drop salary.

What about Howard + future #1 (or two) and the TE for KM (S&T 6 years at like 75 mil?). Nets get a functional player they can immediately plug into their 4 spot for half the price of Kmart and a 1st round pick (or two). We get one of the most athletic and best defensive 4s in the league.

Obviously Tmac, KM and Yao would tie up a lot of money for a long time, but what a nucleus both offensively and defensively.

    Just thinkin greedy.

Could we afford it with the current salaries on the books?...I doubt it....we'd have 4 guys making big $$$...TMAC ($14.5M), KMart ($~$12M), MoT ($8.5M), Spoon ($6M)...That's $41M for 4 players....

I'd assume stay with Howard for half the price.

    I like the idea.
I started a thread earlier today "Sign and Trade of KMart". He would be a great upgrade over Cato. I would want to move someone other than Howard (perhaps MoTaylor) instead.

Overrated, piss poor performer on the big stage and would be nothing without an elite point guard.

If by "piss poor performer on the big stage" you mean "amps up his game during the playoffs", then that's correct.
