I remember Matt Thomas saying several weeks ago he was expecting him to get his bat going. Would be nice to get a look at someone else. But who?
I'm happy for the 2 run lead.... but all 3 of those strikeouts by the Astros in the 9th was just pathetic. Swinging at anything, way out of the zone like they're tired and don't care.
Even with the funk, I have great confidence our top 6 hitters will produce by years end. However aside from one glorious weekend Yuli has looked completely washed. There's just nothing redeeming watching his ABs this year. I still hope to be proven wrong obviously.
We are b****ing a lot about offense. It’s not great. We are also giving a lot of credit to our staff which has been very good. But, I think some of this is just offensive environment is brutal right now. We only have non competitive AB’s for the most part from two positions in the regular lineup- Catcher and 1B. Need to do something about Yuli (won’t do anything about catcher I’d guess). They just don’t seem to view that as an offensive position.
So I've seen a couple of people say something similar after last night's game and I don't get it. I couldn't watch the game but I watched the highlights and it showed 3 of his 4 ABs. One of those he struck out on a well placed 98 mph fastball. One of them was a line drive to the right-center gap that almost got down for a double but the CF caught it. But it was certainly well struck. One was a line drive single to left field. Then he struck out with the bases loaded (that AB wasn't on the highlight so I didn't see how bad that one looked). I get that anyone striking out with less than 2 outs and the bases loaded is frustrating, but 2 of his 4 ABs he hit the ball hard. How is that not at the very least redeeming?
