Banchero did not mince words here as he said straight up that he just doesn’t like the Thunder. If this is not a blatant way to rule himself out as a potential prospect for Oklahoma City then I don’t know what is. I’m sure that Banchero is well aware of the draft projections and he knows that he’s unlikely to go No. 1 overall to the Magic (although at this point, you never know). The 19-year-old appears to have his sights set on Houston at No. 3 and he’s made it very clear here that he does not want anything to do with the Thunder. https://clutchpoints.com/thunder-news-paolo-banchero-rips-okc-ahead-of-nba-draft/ I like it when a player actually wants to be here. His diss of Presti is a nice touch!
Offensively the fit with Sengun requires both to improve their 3 pt % but is certainly a very interesting potential upside offense cause both Sengun and Paolo are such smart bball iq players and solid big men passers. defensively is the issue. Where it’s definitely salvageable. Warriors and Celtics are the top 2 defensive teams and it’s not because they have a giant big in their clogging the paint. But they do ofc have DPOY players. which … ofc is why he suggests Eason at #17. Though again offensively the question will be 3 pt % with Eason. if one ultimately envisions KPJ Green Eason Paolo Sengun I can see it work defensively about as likely as offensively. Both sides have potential failures (3 point % and defensive size/capabilities) and strengths (high level playmakers everywhere if 3 pt % is even average it’s easy to envision a very successful offense… and potential to be very solid on d, switching easily, strong on the boards potential to be disruptive). Imo.
Easy shots at the rim is actually a positive trait. You always try to take positives and make them into a negative. High FG% at rim also goes to dunker, lob and roller opportunity and most importantly, productivity. It also goes towards offensive rebounding & conversion into points. Playmaking without efficient scoring is not a positive trait. EFFICIENT OFFENSE MATTERS SMFH
He's in my top 3. Absolutely loved him when I thought Rockets were drafting Mobley last draft. It's not personal, it's a game of chess.
Possibly, but I think Paolo has a better chance of being Batman than Jabari....or Chet for that matter... Right now I think Jabari is a true Robin, where's Paolo is like captain America or something. Just a different kind of leading hero.
I've seen this video posted a bunch of times as if he just said this but it's obviously old and wasn't recently done, and possibly out of context as well.
Paolo know what it is! All these parrots just repeating goofy takes from one another. Imagine if he could just camp out at the 3 point line while his guards would do all the work? Or just focus on defense and shooting open 3 pointers? I bet those efficiency metrics would just POP! Flip side imagine if Chet or Jabari had to carry a similar playmaking load and leadership role? Would their numbers still look the same? Hardly. Speaking of where is this "Jabari is a great defender" talk materializing on these coveted stat sheets? "Hmmm interesting" Wow! even Coach Spinella jumps in on Paolos side during this thread!! LOLLLL
Imagine the idiots who favor Mavs team defense over an actual elite defense. The fvck nuts just need stop talking defense because they don't know jack.
Or to trade up, or down, or take the best available player who may or may not be one of the big 3. The top 3 pick is too valuable to just go with the media or fan pick.
Q Context is key my friend. Blake was 30 with no knees, Paolo is 19. I’m just saying the way he plays from the high post being able to score for himself and has decent play making from there.
But Paolo's play style and athleticism is compared to Pistons Blake. Not prime Blake with Clips. Agreed, context is key.
