Disney+ has released the first trailer for “Willow,” an original series that serves as the long-awaited follow-up to Ron Howard’s iconic 1980s fantasy feature “Willow”.

Warwick Davis and Joanne Whalley reprise their roles from the original in the new series which follows three young women who try to find Willow, the greatest sorcerer in the land, in an effort to rescue a princess’ twin brother.

Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Ruby Cruz, Amer Chadha-Patel, Dempsey Bryk and Talisa Garcia co-star. Davis’ daughter plays his daughter in the series, whilst his son is his stunt double.

The “Willow” series will debut exclusively on Disney+ on November 30th.

Cool to see the original actor back. Val Kilmer better make an appearance.

Oh boy. I hated the original. It was muddy and uninteresting. But I will give them credit for trying and sticking to the original cast even if that's a bad idea.

It was hyped to be the next Star Wars, with toys, comics and video games. It was a hit at the box office but not to the level they wanted, so no sequels.

It wasn't hyped as much as Willow. No toys or game tie-ins that I remember.

Not unless you’re a fantasy nerd. It’s good if you’re into that kind of thing.

Never Ending Story was very good tho'. I'd put that a couple of tiers above Willow. I did not see the never-ending twist coming, and I had no idea how it would end. It made me think. But also, me be very young at the time too.

I liked Willow as a kid. However tried to watch it with my daughter last summer and we turned it off halfway through.

Showed it to my oldest a few months ago. She thought it was worth 1 watch but that's it. It's nothing special by today's standards but as a kid there wasn't much fantasy and I enjoyed watching it. I personally found it better than similar attempts like Neverending story which didn't match the magic of the books.

However, it's also somewhat dated as a movie both as storytelling and one main female character that comes to mind, just FYI.

From what I understand, he won't be in the series but his character's presence will be felt throughout.

Willow is an interesting film. It's a fun, fantasy movie but it also tries too hard to be the entire (and a far inferior) LOTR trilogy wrapped up into one movie. I wasn't pining for a sequel series, but it does look like it could be some nice family fun.

    I saw this in 3D.

The princess was the subject of many of my solo pubescent meditation sessions.
