Welcome to the Star Wars universe. Where dialog is poorly written, racist stereotypes are projected onto alien beings, and major characters are created just so the kids have some goofy characters to buy as toys. If you can relax and ignore all those things... sit back and enjoy the ride.
Thinking this is going to be similar to Boba Fett which didn't get good until it turned into Mandalorian season 2.5. Hopefully this turns into Star Wars Episode 3.5 in the coming episodes with Vader.
if you thought little Anakin was bad, every scene with that little girl is unbearable (not her fault, no one that young can act) what were they thinking?
Yeah, agreed there, there was no logic in that whole sequence of events. Also, OWK is now too slow to catch a little girl. Really seemed amateurish.
Amazing how difficult it is to make a show in the Star Wars universe -- some of the greatest characters wasted once again. A Kenobi script with Vadar should write itself -- how can you f*ck that up?
I hope they are bringing in Vader starting with the next episode but these guys may think they are hot **** and can hold back any significant Vader scenes until the last episode. Similar to Rogue One.
I said out loud while watching Obi chase her for him to shoot her. In my head i know just a shot to the ankle or calf and she would be ok. seriously though it's okay. Hope it (i bet it will) gets better.
Ok, is it perfect? No, but it is pretty good - so I can overlook the kitch and hookiness of it, because that is exactly what "The New Hope" was back in the day, very kitch! DD
Two episodes in that barely set up the stage, and everyone here already declaring the show a failure and dead. How about let's wait?
I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. No it’s not perfect but it’s been enjoyable so far. Ready for the next episode.
Americans are reactive, you know this breh. Anyway, I liked the show. I had no preconceived notions. I was sort of surprised by the overall direction it's taking, but not unpleasantly so. It seems more along the lines of the prequel trilogy so far, more angled for a younger viewing audience, which I don't dislike having young kids. Spoiler Yeah, Obi was massively inept and couldn't catch a midget 5yo running away from him. Anyone who has kids know they can be tricky little demons so this is possible but the way they filmed it she was so slow and he was worse. 3rd Sister Sith doesn't really project an aura of being an utter badass, sort of a punk. I felt like her Sithcore scene was a little lengthy. I was surprised that the Grand Inquisitor went out like a punk but I guess the Sith live in a constant state of anger at each other, and he was very arrogant so I can see how he got caught by surprise. I guess overall the action direction was a little flat. Not terrible but they can do so much better.
watched episode 1 last night. it f***ing sucked. i was the only one in the room who actually wanted to finish the episode. everyone else wanted to watch something else. that chase scene w/ the kid and flea was so stupid. three of them had that much trouble catching a slow-ass little kid.
Just as i expected, the modern sounding music just doesn't fit with these classic characters. It doesn't feel like Star Wars. Even more jarring since Obi-Wans theme is classic John Williams and cuts to techno synth stuff. That stuff is fine in other series and movies without classic characters, just not with these legacy characters. That reveal at the end of ep.2 with that music felt weird to me. Like some generic bad guy music. I gotta vent and rant. Reva? That her name? She was overacting..not liking her performance so far Spoiler all that time spent making the grand inquisitor a bad ass in the Rebels series and he's barely in this, barely intimidating and then gets offed by some new character who were supposed to believe has some bad history with Obi-Wan and it's PERSONAL! That was whack and i dont buy it. She's going to be some former padawan who trained with Obi-Wan off screen or something? While he was busy being a General in the Clone Wars and she never once appears or is mentioned in the entire series during that time? ...whatever. "I am dark side Mary Sue and i have a bone to pick with your beloved MAN character!" Watch them reduce Obi-Wan to nothing but a lame old has been who can't fight. Right now they have that excuse because he's supposed to be rusty, but in order to make Kathleen Kennedy's female characters powerful, they have to reduce the male characters to punching bags. Watch as even Darth Vader will barely escape Reva's wrath. Actually. Thats how they'll do it. She was a padawan who had a sibling or those were her classmates Anakin slaughtered. She figured out anakin became Darth Vader even though few are really supposed to know but she's a smart powerful female and so she wants to capture Obi-Wan to be granted an audience with Vader and unleash her revenge and rage on him. She will narrowly lose a fight with Lord Vader while Obi Wan sneaks out and escapes. No fight between Obi-Wan and Vader, only force talk to each other as obi wan drifts away in his escape pod. Vader of course never pieces it together that he would go back to Tattoine where he was captured because he's a stupid man bot. The end. 2nd version prediction is she actually defeats Vader and about to kill him before Obi-Wan has to save Vader and she escapes for her own series or movies. Obi wan looks back at a broken Vader mask with anakins face slightly revealed and struggles with the decision to help him before leaving him to die reminiscent of Ep. III on Mustafar. I'm also disappointed in how human it feels. I, like everyone else, hate how the Grand Inquisitor looks nothing like his race is supposed to look like and just looks like a guy in make up, but so does the blue Asian inquisitor and then just a straight up human who is supposed to be our new baddie. Why is Kathleen Kennedy's Disney SW so afraid of making prosthetic alien races major characters? She shoves female empowerment and minority representation down our throats, but can't be bothered to do non human characters which just makes all the SW she touches feel so small in scale and not so galaxy far,far away. Kathleen Kennedy can hire a female director, female composer, create new female characters, even give non white humans their deserved representation. I've been happy to see latinos repped in SW finally and it warms my heart to imagine kids all around the world can now see people who look like them in Star Wars. Amazing. Throw in homosexuals and non binary characters even. I don't care. Just please put more effort into the lore and make it match up with Lucas's vision....you know...the creator of this entire thing? Otherwise, just ****ing reboot the entire thing with a new vision. End rant.
I connected with all the "kid" scenes. I thought it was all cute and well done. I didnt even have a problem with that chase I guess because I figured they didn't want to hurt her and my mind was thinking they were about to do something force related. Spoiler the idea of lil leia and obi wan together on an adventure is great on paper but comes across as too personal for her to just say "years ago you served under my father in the clone wars..help me obi wan kenobi youre my only hope" as if she only ever heard of him from her dad but never actually met him.
I thought it was decent. Will pass final judgement when I seen in entirety. I'm getting Fallen Order vibes with the music. Could Cal Kestis make an appearance? They already gave us a BD-1 easter egg in Mado series. This is still better than the sequels.
A couple of parts of my rant are wrong Spoiler Obi-Wan is traveling so if he's temporarily captured, there's no trace back to Tattooine, and also Reva knows Vader is Anakin because she tells him he's still alive knowing it would impact Obi-Wan. I was under the impression only Ashoka, Sideous and Maul know Vader is Anakin during this period. Obi-Wan and the rest of the jedi believe him dead. I suppose Yoda knows and i'm probably missing a few others, but point is why does this random new character know? She's already got the makings of a dark side Mary Sue and that's what puts me off right now. Oh and i also remembered the dino looking bounty hunter as far as prosthetics being used for other alien races, but my point stands on it being too human I admit i watched both episodes b2b drunk, so i think i'm going to go back and watch them both again sober and i might feel differently. I loved a lot of both episodes already though. I connected with a lot of it emotionally despite my dislike of the music used and the cheap human in makeup look, and my worries of a dark side Mary Sue with Kathleen Kennedy written all over her, but that's unfair right now. Spoiler more i think about it, i doubt they used a pretty well known actor for the Grand Inquisitor just to kill him off so quickly.
