RIP ****ing a, this sucks!! I'm glad I got to see them live, one of the best concerts I've been to, especially the sound quality, and I've been to a lot of concerts. They're definitely one of my favorite bands. I'm glad they finally got inducted into the Hall while he was still alive, they deserved it a long long time ago.
i was into them when i was younger, but unlike the cure, they were not a band that i carried with me into middle age. however, i must say that when i saw them at austin city limits festival in 2013 (with the cure) they f***ing rocked the park. they went full on rock band with guitars and live drums and it was awesome. andy fletcher actually formed the band with vince clarke (whom went on to form erasure and yaz). they were childhood friends and recruited the other dudes.
Music For The Masses Tour at Astroworld. So much fun. So much humidity. So many smelly high school kids. RIP Gotta rank this up there with Adam Yauch for artists passing that I grew up with. Not fun getting older. Thoughts out to friends, family and fans.
Arguably the most popular band in the world of the 1980's, probably the second most popular act in the 80's behind Michael Jackson.
I hear you on their sound, but challenge you to drop 101 on and not sing along to one of the greatest live albums ever.
