Jokic is 27, the Rockets could pull off a sign and trade next year, but would he want to team up with Green and Banchero/Smith/Holmgren, or go to a vet team? Probably the latter given he’s currently in his prime.

Why would they sign and trade when they could just outright sign him?

Sign and trade to keep his Bird Rights so they can give him the same money Denver can, at least that’s how I understand it. They can’t offer him as much as an UFA.

Pretty sure that hasn’t been a thing for like a decade now. They eliminated that in the last CBA, I’m fairly certain.

Hope that’s true, I thought it was still a thing. With Bird Rights, a team could offer an extra year at max money.

    It's true:

This provision, introduced with the 2011 CBA and maintained in the 2017 CBA, closed a loophole that allowed a team to sign-and-trade any player to whom it held "Bird rights"

I remember it being a topic when we were trying to sign Dwight and why him choosing Houston seemed so farfetched at first.

We’re signing Jokic and Kyrie, trading for KD and Big Jim will sign for the minimum. “This is where I always wanted to be. I never wanted to leave Houston.” ;)

Kyrie. Harden. Simmons. Kawai. Zion. The All-World trust issue squad, unavailable and such teases with their talent.

Or the organically evolved GoodGuys circa ‘24.

Even better ... Wood/Gordon/#3 for Jokic .... then allow Brooklyn to keep ALL THEIR PICKS and send us a newly signed KD.

    KPJ
    Green
    Durant
    Jokic
    Sengun

Bam! This GM stuff is easy! ;)
