Buddy of mine is moving there soon. What's the lowdown on restaurants, bars, etc...? Eta: also one of Hayes Carll's best songs
Growing up, my grandparents lived in Port Arthur so I spent all my Easters/Thanksgivings/Christmas’ there. No other reason to ever go near there…
....well, it's close to Louisiana, so good food has to be around there somewhere. And lots of prostitutes in every gas station.
Man... There's some REAL BAD (no food anywhere) parts of Louisiana. Carcosa zones. The closest good food would be... Houston. This friend should just live in East Houston. Mont Belvieu at WORST.
That place is worst than Beaumont...I was shot at back in '08 and will never visit that shithole again.
There was a BBQ place in Kountz, not too far north of Beaumont, that was considered like top 5 BBQ in all of Texas at one point. Not sure if they are still there or not. That's about all the good I have to say about Beaumont.
Beaumont is a beautiful city. It has a Pappadeaux, a large hospital and you can get egg rolls two for a dollar and ten dollar blow jobs at virtually every service station in the area.
Jesus... you beat me to it. Have to be careful about the prosititutes, make sure you hit the gas stations after 3:30 pm to make sure they are not in school.
Broooo. East, TX/Louisiana is straight spam out of a can and barnacles. Good luck. 1hr to H-Tine or 2hrs to Lafayette. That's all you got. The 1hr from Beaumont into downtown is probably less than what Katy people be driving anyways.
I'm really asking about restaurants and bars. There's fishing, so you know there's seafood. The 2 guys from Montrose and Chicago are telling me what's what. I dig it.
Last time I drove through LA I stopped at a gas station, broad daylight on a Sunday. Not even a greasy station, and it was packed with travelers. I went in to use the restroom and the walls were lined with young latino men all dressed up and standing around. It was a real WTF moment. Louisiana is another world and New Orleans is the true Sin City in the states.
