Wingspan longer than expected, but height 6'5" instead of 6'6"

"But the reports of Sharpe's near-7-foot wingspan were verified on Day 1 of the Combine. Sharpe measured in with a 6-foot-11.5 wingspan – the fifth-longest of any guard.

Sharpe stands in at 6-foot-5.25 with shoes on, giving him a plus wingspan of 6.25 inches.

Yeah not sure how they can accurately scout him. You could watch a players workouts and can't tell the difference between the Jimmy Butlers and the Gerald Greens. Have to rely heavily on high school tape... ?

Dude is 6'4 how d hell is he like Paul George? Pg is 6'7 without shoes.

Nobody knows what is in his bag since he didnt even scrimmage in the draft combine. I'd rather have a guy like Dyson Daniels or Duren who proved thry can play than Shaedon Sharpe. Sharpe could be the next coming of MJ but I'd still rather have a player I already know is good then take a wild ass gamble on my top 5 pick.

I think its insane Sharpe got top 5'ed merely based on his high school ranking and people's imagination.

I was somewhat on the hype train a few weeks ago, but with what little precious little info we have on him, I've lost any interest as a top 5 pick.

Maybe the raw tools will translate, but at this point he could legitimately be an absolute scrub not even worth NBA minutes.

One thing for sure though, the guy seems to have an attitude and he might be a headcase. Im just glad we are not the ones picking at 4 or 5

    I'd gamble at 17, that's about it.

Nah, with his shoulders, build and wingspan he can play the 3 easily.

Holding out hope this guy falls and Rockets can trade up and nab him along with Banchero.

That would be a home run draft.

I can see him go as high as 4 to Sacramento because Kings are gonna Kings.

I guess I’m not big on gambling, but he seems more like the kind of guy you take a swing at in the back end of the lottery. When you’re caught in that area of purgatory and there’s no way out other than to strike gold or tear it down. Having a top 10 pick and taking Hasheem Thabeet can set your program back a decade. You need to nail those high lottery picks. Gamble on the back end. Not everyone thinks that way and it sounds like someone is going to go for it.

He's either going to make a GM look very smart or get that GM fired in the next 2 years. That being said you and I are probably right in that Sacramento could take that gamble. Monte McNair's contract hasn't been extended and he could take a huge risk on Sharpe to get a new deal. If the Sharpe experiment crashes McNair will get canned but he'll most likely land somewhere with Morey or one of his disciples.

I agree 100%. If the draft is horribad like Harden's draft class you can totally take a prayer on Sharpe but not in this class IMO.

I take the young Dwight Howard clone and a bunch of other guys before Sharpe.

He is 6'4 with 6'11 wingspan. He can play the 3 but not easily cuz he gonna undersized at the 3 similar to KPJ.

We also dont know his tendencies cuz as a 3 you need to be a bit more physical than a 2 cuz you need to get rebounds, steals, cut to the basket etc. The 3 is pretty important role yiu generally need guys with high bball IQ like Lebron, Pippen, KD, Kawhi etc cuz the 3 fills in the gap between 2 and 4. The ideal 3 is expected to do little bit of everything and we dont know anything about Sharpe's skill level or bball IQ.

    Tangent info on the Kings

    GM list.
    Geoff Petrie - 1994 - 2013 (9 years)
    Pete D'Alessarndro - 2013 - 2015 (2 years)
    Vlade Divac - 2015 - 2020 (5 years)
    Joe Dumars - 8/2020 - 9/2020 (1 month)
    McNair - 9/2020 - present

    Coaches under McNair
Luke Walton - 2019-2021 (2 years) - McNair inherited Walton.
    Alvin Gentry - 2021 - 2022 (1 year) - interim coach to head coach
    < tbd > - 2022 - present

Most of the bad run is from Divac and D'Alessandro. McNair is from the Morey GM tree, so my expectations is at least some 'modern' basketball thinking. Also if McNair is handcuffed to 'win now' owners, Sharpe seems like the last person they'll get. Since he's more of a project than anyone.

They could still get him for the upside. ...and flip him for a more polished player shortly after.

Kings could still do Kings things, McNair has the uphill battle of going against Org's old reputation.
