Well, the wifey and I are big DA fans, and went to see the latest movie from them. Wow - loved every second of it. It is great seeing the characters we enjoyed on the series and in the first movie come back and kill it once again. This movie had a great plot, great story, and wonderful acting. If you like Downton Abbey it is 5 stars. If you don't know it, probably around 3.75 stars.... DD
I just don't see the appeal. What's so great about a bunch of very wealthy people and their servants? What's the conflict? Getting the mansion clean because the Queen is coming? Must be the most boring montage ever. It's just a soap opera based in early 1900s England.
I am guessing you never watched it, the series is very interesting because it is not just about wealthy people, but also those people that support them, and the closeness that exists between the two classes, and it is about class warfare and how it ended. I can't make anyone like period pieces, but for me, it is great, the characters stories are rich and interesting, the tie into actual history is fun and engaging, and the acting and writing is top notch. It is one of the best series I have ever binge watched, and I am saddened if this is the last movie, but if it is, it is a nice end. DD
I watched the first season, few episodes of the second season when it went downton hill fast. No idea they had six seasons so I'm curious: was that not enough of the upstairs/downstairs remake for you? Whats the point of a movie except $$$
You missed a ton - too much to talk about really - if you don't like the pacing etc, I get it.....it is very dialogue heavy and more about the drama and challenges life was about then. DD
Love me some Downton Abbey. I made fun of it early on when the mrs first started to watch it but I got hooked. It’s really a delightful show
