Watching the pendulum swing across the Internet is kind of fun to watch. It depends on how good the "convincers" are. For the longest time it was Paolo and Chet in high school. Jabari wasn't talked about quite on their level. Not a ton of people had heard of Ivey, Terquavion Smith, Jaylin Williams, etc., coming out of high school, but what a difference a year or two and a combine makes.
Umm, yes, we kinda do have to have it figured out by next year. Our cap space window opens next offseason, you can delay it maybe one year, at best, then the rookie deals start expiring, and you lose your opportunity to improve via free agency. Sure you can still balance your roster via trade, but it’s much harder to find a match.
we didn't get Paolo yet but I guess we can assume... but just be ready incase its one of the other guys and we have to support them and love building around them lol. that being said I do like the Jalen and paolo pairing because I think banchero can set real screens for jalen, and become a real problem as a roller because of his ability to finish and pass out of the short roll. he can also pick and pop. so there's 3 options out of that PnR, and that's not even counting jalen as a scoring threat out of that play too. that being said I'm not sure sengun is the best partner at C for paolo (I know this has been discussed) and I'm not sure KPJ is the right PG for that pairing either. we're going to need our own versions of Smart, Bridges, and Capela to surround them. if we do draft paolo, I would be aggressively trying to trade up for Williams, Eason, Sochan, or Daniels.
KPJ / Nix Green / Christopher Eason / Matthews Jabari or Chet or Banchero / KJM Sengun / Garuba That’s who I want getting minutes next year. It’s a great way to “lose organically”, and give plenty of development minutes to our young guys.
Yes that is true, but I think we have more than 1 or 2 years to figure out the roster to contend. It will take time to see what we really have with the young core. It should be a good time watching it though. I think we are in good hands with Stone as GM.
I initially wrote Banchero off because I was so focused on Holmgren but since I've been watching more tape on him I'm really excited about the option of drafting him almost to the point of wanting him over the other two.
I am fine with either one of Paolo or Jabari but I just don’t want Chet. Maybe I am ignorant but I have never seen a player with his frame develop into an allstar player. Even if he does he is likely going to be injury prone. If he falls to #3, I am taking Sharpe/Ivey over him.
