Duke will have over SEVENTY players drafted into the NBA after this year. Kyrie and Tatum are probably future HOFers - Grant Hill is. christian Laetner is but because of his college career but how do you like the odds of 3 out of 70? Most Duke player peak in college. Like I said, they tend to have the talent and skill but lack the drive to sustain it as they age. What’s been the complaint of Zion so far in his career? That he doesn’t control his weight or doesn’t rehab very hard….Go ahead and throw some more names out there. Entering the league and being promising for 4 or 5 years but ultimately flaming out just lengthens the rebuild.
Duke players lack work ethic? That's a first. How many schools generate HoFs anyway lol? This is a bad generalization not to mention it's tired and out date. 90s - early '00s Duke is very different from late to current Duke. Deng was the first of the one and dones... Then Kyrie showed up and that kick started the new Duke. For just the "big wing" do it all Grant Hill types Coach K heavily utilitizes. Not including guards or their centers. Parker - injuries/bust Ingram - star Tatum - star Carter Jr - very good Zion - superstar injuries may derail Banchero - ? Parker is the only bust out of the Coach K's combo 4 spot. Interesting note Banchero took Duke further than the rest of those names, winning a regional championship.
Who knows but those other guys had more total NBA players. Guys like Trevon Duval had better numbers than Roach or Keels and he went undrafted after his freshman year. Zion didn't but that team had 5/6 players top 15 recruit 3 of them were top 5 all lottery picks. Banchero is only top 15 recruit this year.
Most other Dukies weren’t one and done. Blanchero is the real deal and may sadly be gone by pick 3. He has #1 upside.
……not to mention anybody on this board would be in fifth heaven if we traded for Zion Williamson. Can’t guarantee that Banchero will be best in class but I can guarantee you he’ll be much better than Holmgren for the next few years.
