Sandwiches, if done well, by far. People say sandwiches are just a meal on bread; you can basically take it in any direction and there's endless possibilities. (Hamburger wins if its in this category). Burritos are essentially also a well-composed meal in one, but feel like there's less variety here. Pizza is the other way around. Simpler the better. toppings are there to make the underlying pizza play up. I pretty much never crave pizza and if i'm paying for good pizza i'd probably rather be at another nice restaurant.
You qualify it. Yes, a hamburger is a sandwich. Same thing, different shell size. Sandwich: two pieces of bread (bun) with fixins between Pizza: Flat bread with sauce and fixins Burrito: Tortilla wrapped around fixins
If I had to pick only one thing to eat for the rest of my life (regardless of health consequences), it would be between burgers and pizza. I really think I would have to choose pizza. I haven't had a lot of bad pizza, but I've had some bad burgers.
So we've established that a burger is a sammich. What about a pita? Gyro/falafel/kebob/etc? The only reason sammich wins this is the almost infinite amount of variations on meat/cheese/veggie/bread/condiment. Whoever described them as "thin sliced meat with some lettuce and mayo on bread" is living a sad existence. (looking @you @VooDooPope, iirc). I would lean pitas/wraps/gyros are burritos in this case. Sandwich: Two pieces of bread Pizza: One piece of bread, flat Burrito: One piece of bread as a wrap
Its true. I was traumatized by the "sandwiches" my evil step mother made me eat almost daily when I was younger. Ughhhh nasty
If that's the qualification, I'm skipping all that and going with a Tex-Mex combination plate (specifically a Casa Elena (RIP) Tampico Dinner (beef taco, beef enchilada, cheese enchilada, pork tamale, rice, beans) or a two meat plate (sliced moist brisket/sausage with potato salad and beans) at any number of BBQ joints.
This is strong, but your TexMex plate is missing fajita meat in some delivery vehicle (nachos? tacos? quesadilla? burrito? torta? enchiladas?)
