Last summer I got a tip I didn’t want to believe: A source familiar with the inner workings of the Nets roster told me James Harden would leave Brooklyn.

Followed by Kyrie Irving, then ultimately Kevin Durant, a purported course of events that would undoubtedly send the Nets back to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings after just three seasons in the spotlight.

Fast forward one summer and Harden is now an afterthought. And if the Nets aren’t careful, Irving is next.

And we all know where the Nets are after that: The endgame.

Stone and Fertits should put everyone who doubted them on blast lol. People thought it would take 5 yrs before we saw any significant return on those picks.

 

If that happens, it'd be the second time they frittered away their draft picks around 3 stars who didn't deliver.

 

Sean Marks and Nets org questioning Kyrie's commitment issues seems logical. But people speculating that KD is not OK with Nets to absolutely bring Kyrie back is pure speculation. (bad ones at that).

Reading the tea leaves, KD is likely OK with Nets not cow-towing to Kyrie... not handcuffing themselves to a part-time Kyrie. KD is not stupid, he knows the org could be severely crippled by giving Irving a max deal. KD just can't say this publicly because outside of basketball, he and Kyrie are boys.

 

Contract Extension Between Kyrie Irving, Nets Is 'Likely'

"All indications" point to Kyrie Irving signing a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets this offseason, sources told Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

Irving currently has a player option worth $36.5 million for next season and has until June 29 to make a decision.

It was reported last month that the Nets were "outright unwilling" to sign Irving to a long-term deal.

Despite the rumors, the sentiment around the league is that Irving will re-sign with the Nets.
