Can you point me to the relevant quote? I don't want Sharpe, so I would be happy to confirm this...

“In the abstract, (a player’s ceiling) is the most important (consideration),” Stone said. “But in reality, no one would pick somebody who has a ceiling at 99 and a floor at one if they can pick a guy who has a ceiling at 98 and a floor at 97. It’s obviously important, but it’s not the only determining factor.”

Though depending on how important one views defense, this could also be a Banchero vs Murray reference.

Y’all are reading too much into that quote. He was directly asked how much ceiling matters, and he basically said it is the most important component, but not the sole consideration.

This is an easy yes imo, the talent level would go up significantly by trading 3 for 5 and 7.

We should try to get that player for them.

Gordon, #17 and our 2023 pick for Jerami Grant type of deal. We could get someone they would like to get in a 3-way trade. We can dream.

Detroit doesn't benefit from trading Grant to us or In a three way trade where rockets end up with #4. TBH Detroit is in the drivers seat to get #4 from kings or #7 from blazer. Cade can get his running mate in Ivey and one of the SF.

I'd hate to pass on Banchero if he was there at 3 but god, watching this team let other players drive freely into the paint is painful.

Hell yes. This is going to be an incredible draft. I’d make that trade all day!

Since 2016, except for the 2019 class, all 3rd picks became a better player than the first.

    KEEP THE 3RD!

We sweated all year about being able to draft one of the elite bigs and last night we got lucky. The drop-off after 4 is significant in my opinion. 5-14 looks pretty similar value save for maybe Murray. I would focus on moving up from #17 rather than moving back from #3

Something about ceilings through the roof and the 99 percent but a floor ain’t 1

Don't trade the pick until you're on the clock.

I voted to keep #3 and take Banchero.

But my 1st preference is to trade up to #1.

With my luck, Stone does trade up to #1 and still takes Banchero.:mad:o_O

I'm lost. If we didn't want to pick 3rd figuring 5th is good enough then why would Detroit trade Grant and #5 for it? Also, why wouldn't Detroit just pick #5 and #7 in that scenario? If you were on the other end would you do it? And if you would then why would the Rockets do it then?

Murray is a 6'8 22 yr old pf I dunno why everyone is talking about him as if he is some transcendental talent. Yeah he did great but thats cuz he is a junior already, spent one year in AAU before going to college.

Put Jalen Duren in NCAA for 4 yrs and he'll be the same age as Keegan.
