(Apologies if I'm supposed to post this elsewhere!) I'm sure there are MANY more knowledgeable people on the forum than I, so I'm asking why not: * Trade Wood (as he's injury prone and doesn't seem a great fit as a mostly outside player) * Draft Walker Kessler at 17 as he's the insider rim protector and rebounder we need I'd love to see the following as it seems a great blend of inside/outside presence as well as offense/defense: Porter Green Tate Banchero Welker (I know I'm leaving out my fave Rocket and fellow countryman, Sengun, but I like him coming off the bench and creating matchup nightmares for the opposition.) I'm curious as to what the more savvy Clutchfans think.
This is probably the downside to Kessler though... because he can do those things he thinks more about them than being a rim rolling defensive presence who can pick and pop. His talent is undisputable, but I would prefer Mark Williams. Trading Wood is a no-brainer. Can we flip him to Charlotte for 13, PJ Washington and filler?
Do not extend wood until the situation is ideal. We don’t need to be caught with our pants down. Whip it out if we need to score. I mean wood’s contract of course.
Kessler is a very good player he has the wingspan as Chet, he has the size(245lbs) and he played in the SEC....SEC DPOY. Hornets has two picks we need one of them. I would give them Wood for the 13th pick
Why would anyone want to move Wood away from the Houston Rockets? Considering the fact that he has been the best player for the previous two seasons !
Moving wood and Gordon should’ve been the priority last year at the deadline but Ruffell screwed his second deadline in a row His drafts have been solid so far but he needs to learn to let go and be proactive on the trade market
I'm okay with Kessler or Williams at 17. Though Williams is not lasting until 17 after today. Williams probably going around 10 at this rate. 9'9" standing reach is the highest ever after Tacko Falls. He is a gazelle in comparison to Tacko. Ditching Wood for some value is the most crucial. Draft night, Wood + 17 to move up to maybe 8-10 range to nab Dyson Daniels or Jeremy Sochan would be ideal.
I believe both Ibou Dianko Badji and Yannick Nsoza are available in this draft. Both are raw freakishly athletic 7 footers (give or take). Jalen Duren may still be around when they pick... etc. I'm fine with drafting Kessler if he's who they want but there are other pathways to the same result and I don't think Kessler is so special that it's him or bust. I approve drafting a defensive anchor, though if available. That seems a sound plan.
Because it's not an unrelated fact that we've been the worst team in the association the last two years.
Kessler is not the right guy for us. He can contribute as a role player for a good team, which is exactly where he will get drafted, late first, but he's not good enough in my opinion to make an impact as a starter on a really bad team. That's us. He would fizzle out here before he could find a lasting role.
