Well if Lunhow acquired him raining threes will think he’s the best pitcher in history and it’s a travesty he’s just now getting a chance. But if Click aquired him it wouldn’t matter if he broke the record for consecutive shutout innings for a reliever it’s obvious that’s what any GM would do when it comes to his promotion and success and has no reflection on Clicks competence as an executive. I think he’s just a run of the mill AAAA pitcher
He hasn't started since A ball in 2017, so probably a one time though the order limit. But his skill set relying on deception is a nice compliment to power relievers.
I'm liking his command of his secondary pitches...though small sample warning. Sliders inside to RHBs for popups and low and away for whiffs. He's Bob Ross with the sinker so far. Cutter is a chase pitch (i.e., batter has to decide if it is a sinker on the outer corner or a cutter out of zone). Not sure if he can keep up this command.
Not that this is anything new or surprising, but Kyle Tucker is a straight up superstar in this league. After yet another bizarrely unlucky April, Tucker has climbed to 15th in the MLB in fWAR. He's only 25, coming off a 5 WAR season at age 24, and has shown improvement this year - his walk rate is a career high 13.5% and he's on pace for a 30/30 season. His defense in RF is elite. One of these years he's going to end up being lucky in April instead of unlucky and end his season with some ungodly stat line.
So you're saying he's having a lucky year? We'll see how things turn out. You're right about injury being the only way Click makes a move.
BS post of the day. BTW, honest question, who did acquire him. He looks like a solid BP piece of he can keep up the control of his secondary pitches. Good extra piece for injury and long man
Took a look at projections today, Fangraphs is painting this team as a monster. They are easily projecting this team to 100 wins and have 5 players posting superstar caliber seasons. Bregman (6), Tucker (6.5), Pena (4.6), Altuve (4.9), and Alvarez (5.6) are projected to finish this season with >4.5 fwar each. Looking forward, reasonable aging performance curves for the players under future control point to the Astros having potential to field some of the best teams ever in 2023 and 2024 before Altuve and Bregman reach free agency.
Not having a time table makes sense. Sprains have far different recovery times depending on Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3.
That's reasonable. He's probably factoring in much higher Arbitration awards in the last couple of years for stars.
