how do you know what they meant to say?

 

Because they corrected their tweet and explained what they meant to say.

 

If posters would actually do more than find a random tweet and post it. Or... read more than just a headline, they'd learn a lot more.

 

"correcting" their tweet and explaining what they "meant" or intended to say are two different things.

"We should have said that they were not widely available" is simply the correction of a mistake, not necessarily a statement of intent

to see why this is so, consider the statement, "I should have kept my mouth closed" after someone says something they regret. We would not infer from that statement that they intended to keep their mouth closed but simply opened their mouth accidentally and spoke against their intention

 

So... what should they have done? They realized their tweet was wrong. They tweeted out a new tweet explaining why it was wrong and explaining what they should have said.

better perhaps to have stated: "They should have said 'widely available.' "

That statement would not have implied mind reading.

 

I'll do a better job next time of trying to appease you.

Fact is the tweet was clarified with what they tweeted they should have said. (there..is that better?)

 

that's not necessary

it's a more accurate statement and one that doesn't rely on speculation about what anyone "meant" to say

Relevant bits: China's shutdown policy is no bueno when their **** vaccines only reduce the severity of covid rather than claiming immunity like the mRNA versions the US had access to. This means their cities are ****ed, their factories and ports stalled.

It's BS by both parties to take much of the credit for this. Biontech, Moderna, Pfizer developed the vaccines.

 

if he's responsible for fully vaccinating 200 million people then he's just as responsible for not vaccinating the other 130 million people, no?

 

I just think an official government account shouldn't really tweet non-sensical partisan propaganda. But of course that was at least equally true for the predecessor in office and for most government accounts worldwide.

 

They just did what they had to do because their previous tweet was obviously and demonstrably "fake news".

 

if you could read their minds you could argue they intentionally lied . . . and then when someone called them on the lie, they were forced to retract the statement

 

So... isn't it better that they clarified their tweet pretty quick rather than double down or ignore it?

Technically, for vast numbers of Americans, the vaccine was unavailable when Biden took office. I couldn't get it until the last week in March.

 

Rs will surely investigate this if they take control of the House. What they said. When they said it. Ben Ghazi all over again.
