I feel like there's only 2 bad answers, Jaden Ivey and "Other".

Any other selection IMO is defensible.

You’re correct about height measurements at combine. 6’9 and 6’10.25 in shoes with 7’5 wingspan.
    But……he was listed as a SF/PF

And??? I hate this mentality. If the guy can play he needs to be drafted appropriately all this "22 is too old to be a lottery pick" makes no sense.

Then you see dudes like Jalen Brunson tear it up when they get into the league and where the hell is Kevin Knox and all his potential?

He played 80 games at SG his rookie year for a reason. I didn't mention what he was listed at.

Correct. Predraft he wasn’t listed as a SG, his rookie season was the only season he s listed any position other than SF or PF

ignoring how age affects future projections is silly.

Keegan can put up huge numbers because he's beating up on kids 4 years younger than him, 4 fewer years in the weight room, 4 fewer years of competitive experience. that makes a difference. a freshman who dominates guys 4 years older than him is a totally different story.

Draft the BEST defensive player in top 5.

The playoffs have shown us that DEFENSE MATTERS.

I don't heavily factor age into prospect evaluation, so it's a moot point for me personally. But for what it's worth, you're off by a year and three months. Smith just turned 19 and Murray was 17 and 9 months at the time.

Most of those warriors that beat Paul and the rockets were drafted at a later age too.

fair enough! but the point remains.

I don't weigh age heavily either, unless the age difference is substantial. in this case it is.

Could be worse. They could have also drafted Frank Ntilikina the year before.

It's almost like people peak and mature at different ages.

There are plenty of 21 year olds college, while he is an old sophomore, Keegan Murray isn't the oldest dude out there. He was a sophomore, this is his second year in college no different than Ivey.

We penalizing prospects because they peak/mature later than others?

Meanwhile the Heat is just collecting all these undrafted old dudes on their way to a conference finals.

Naw instead: Duren gets blocked at the rim like he is a guard doesn't finish well, meh defensively but he big and is 17!
    Let's draft him top 5. -_-

    NBA logic.

yeah actually there's a lot of data on this topic, all of it basically refuting your assumption. if you care to learn more you can simply google "does age matter in NBA Draft?"

spoiler: age matters in the nba draft. it matters even more in the first round, and it matters most in the lottery.
