He laid out a timeline of several years of events, you start planning now if you are rebuilding, you don't just wait until you get there and then try to plug in the holes. That is exactly how you run into cap situations.
im not sure about the Suns mistakes, but i know this of the final 4 teams: Ortg league ranks: 6, 10, 15, 17 Drtg league ranks: 1, 2, 5, 6 We should avoid the mistake of the Rockets the last go around and focus on both sides of the ball equally.
Lol this just took Booker of my list of the few new young players a respect. Go to LA Fitness dog if you “want to work on your game”
Booker is an A-hole with his "Luke special comment and making fun of the avg Joe's playing basketball in a gym. What is there to respect?
2017/2018 roster gave us our best chance at a title by a good margin compared to the other years of the run. 1st in Ortg. 6th in Drtg. Best record in the league by 6 games. **** happens.
it always comes down to making the most of your draft picks... You can be at the top hoping for a LeBron - but you might get Oden'ed... You can be in the middle where the pickins are leaner - and still get lucky on a Kawhi... It's all about talent evaluation....
Especially the Kings. I get that you had Booker and needed a big man, if you're the Suns. But how do you choose Bagley III over Doncic?
Nothing to overthink. Their core is just not good enough. CP3 is near 40, he's seen better years. Ayton is a really solid big man, not a franchise level big, a fringe all-star at best right now. Booker is a really good player but not good enough to be the main guy on a championship team. At the end of the day their core just isn't good enough. I don't think their window is closed though. Ayton just has to get better or they have to trade him and it has to be a good trade. Booker needs a legit consistent star beside him that isn't on his last legs. Rockets can just hope that Green is better than Booker, that they have a gem in Sengun, and that the next guy they draft this year is a star. Things will be a lot easier then.
Shouldn't forget Toronto, the example that all teams should be held to in terms of maximizing their window and going for it. All it took was the only game 7 buzzer-beater in NBA history, coming back from 0-2 against Milwaukee, Durant rupturing his Achilles and Klay tearing his ACL. Toronto loses in the 2019 finals, then gets knocked out in the second round in the bubble, then plummets to 27 wins while losing their future HOFer Kyle Lowry for nothing in the offseason. It should not be forgotten that in the summer of 2021, Ujiri was facing strong opposition from Toronto ownership to getting an extension. Without a chip, does Ujiri leave Toronto? And where does that leave the Raptors in that wake? Probably in about the same limbo as the Rockets without Morey... It's truly crazy to consider how differently we would we be thinking about the DeRozan / Kawhi trade without a title; how Toronto threw away an all-NBA, homegrown player who never wanted to leave for a mercenary who told everyone he was going to walk to LA after the year was up. That's not even mentioning the Marc Gasol / Valanciunas swap, which also looks pretty terrible in hindsight without a ring. And if Ujiri is gone, do the Raptors actually go with the overwhelming consensus pick of Jalen Suggs over Scottie Barnes in the 2021 draft? With just a few what if...?s, suddenly, the Raptors look like an absolute mess with no direction, no leadership, and no franchise players, and this thread is titled very differently. Most Rockets fans despise the Barkley trade, but Chuck would have been beloved in Houston (and would have gotten his promised contract) if Karl Malone hadn't gotten away with the bearhug on Drexler and the Rockets make the finals vs. the Bulls. Honestly, I don't think anyone should be blamed for not beating Jordan, but if Chuck had at least been able to deliver us one Dream / Michael finals matchup, I would definitely be much less peeved about losing Cassell/Horry.
it’s crazy to think that we haven’t been to a NBA finals in almost 30 years, and we’re still nowhere close
Exactly- Strings happens imagine if we had that squad coming up this year … we would be the next dynasty tbh. Fkn warriors
Jalen is more talented than anyone on the Suns roster so that's a good start. Going for broke with aging vets is what you shouldn't do.
