What? You think doctors are super excited to perform third trimester abortions? Where are you getting this.

I asked you for examples of legislation by anyone to allow elective third trimester abortions. You provided none. So where are you getting the idea that there was a "push" for it?

The only people I know that are putting that idea out there are people who that are being dishonest with their presentation.

I appreciate you discussing this civilly. I'm just curious what push is being made and if there has been legislation advocating that?

I honestly understand why abortion is necessary, and I'll be on any side that tries to ban it, because it does nobody any favors.

I also think 3rd trimester abortions are evil and should be banned. Period. Anytime you try and justify them makes you ****, because people will manipulate that.

It's up to you decide that if giving birth will kill the mother that they should go ahead and kill the mother even though they currently try and protect both. But if they can't, they save the mother. You are free to disagree with that, but you won't find much company in that camp.

Would it be better to pull a doctors license if he was being disingenuous about the health of the mother than tell women to **** off and die?

Part of me believes if another life was attached to you and for that life to survive, you would have to die, you wouldn't make that sacrifice. You would be scared shitless and that would be completely normal because people don't like dieing.

The very idea that ALL women should sacrifice themselves for a baby to live is super dehumanizing. In the end it's like saying that a woman's main purpose is to have babies, that's it, that's all.

Who cares if she's a neuroscientist? Who cares if she's a lawyer? Who cares what she might contribute to the world, when it is baby time she better sacrifice her life to bring that baby into the world.

Also, let's remember that if the mother is in danger because of childbirth the baby is also in danger of even surviving it. Imagine being forced to deliver a baby and die doing so only for that baby to die soon after? Imagine losing the love of your life and child in that scenario all because some evangelical wacko across the country wanted to force their beliefs onto you?

Anyone that says that abortion should be illegal even if the mother's life is in danger, I'm sorry, they are sexist and think women are nothing but baby producing machines. I know they'll never come out and say it but taking that stance all but says you think the main role of a woman in society is to make babies and everything else should come 2nd to that.

Really. Because it seems like you are the one who is trying to place words in our mouth pretending we are advocating for elective late term abortions when we only believe late term abortions should only be done if the woman's life is severely threatened or some other highly specialized severe cases where the baby might have some severe abnormality that might make life extremely traumatic.

So let me ask you again, would you sacrifice your life if there was a life attached to you and the only way for it to survive was for you to die?

I believe that abortion is a necessary evil. Anything beyond the third trimester should be banned without exception.

The problem is that when you throw in the health of the mother, it creates an enormous loophole that swallows the rule, because anyone could say their mental health is at risk. Former Planned Parenthood employees have talked about how they coached women on how express that their mental health was endangered.

They've gotten a couple years of the alternative, their lives have gotten worse, they hate both, and abortion isn't a major topic to that demographic, it's more a millenial thing, not a zoomer thing.

These people were expecting a major democratic fundraising increase, there wasn't, they were expecting a poll shift against them, there was the opposite. They're just wrong about so much, the people they get advice from are pretty much a text book definition of grifter (karl rove still thinks latinos voted for gw,,,), which is how they lost their party to Trump and the broad America First movement, thje only reason anyone knows the name Frank Luntz is because they listen to shills who are never right about anything.

But then, just look at any sort of recent SCOTUS decision, it's not going to gather more traction than day 1 of the fear p*rn extravaganza.

For them it is, they think the public wants war, how many people in the republican caucus are opposed to it? what is it? 4? meanwhile the majority of their voters a) dont care about Ukraine and think its a waste of money, and b) think avoiding confrontation with a nuclear power on their border is a dumb thing.

abortions being banned in the 3rd trimester even if the mother’s life is at risk is such simple minded black and white thinking

a woman can’t even have the option of saving their own life…no, they must die

If the mobs start scaling the homes, break windows, force their way in and beat their guard dog and with flagpoles, and hang a noose in the yard will you call them criminals or just mainly peaceful Patriots?

If instead of going out there and having all the sex, she should have stayed in the damn kitchen and made a sandwich.

What's weird with this thinking is that some think these really rare cases that women would choose life. There are plenty of women out there that would die for that baby if it were a life and death situation. It's pretty ****ed up that individuals want to control something that happens so rarely.

What if your daughter, wife or mother was raped, and their life was at risk carrying or delivering that baby? Do you actually believe a rape victim should die to protect that baby?

The problem is that the world is not black and white and there has to be exceptions to every rule. For goodness sakes man, you are nearly 60, you know the realities of the world. No one but a select few are advocating for 3rd trimester abortions by just anybody.

Late-term abortion (>= 21 weeks) statistics and reasons why. Not common and difficult to obtain one. In the case of risk to the mother, effort is made to save both the mother and the baby. I can't find stats on 3rd trimester abortion (>= 27 weeks), probably because they are extremely rare. There is a statement from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists that said 3rd trimester abortions is "virtually none".

This isn't the reason why you support RvW being overturned. That's a dishonest position. It's because you believe life starts at inception, even earlier, or sometime in the 1st trimester (week 1 - week 12). Tell me I'm wrong.

Abortions Later in Pregnancy – KFF

Non-Medical Reasons: Individuals seek abortions later in pregnancy for a number of reasons. As part of the Turnaway study out of the University of California San Francisco, from 2008-2010 over 440 women were asked about why they experienced delays in obtaining abortion care, if any (Figure 2). Almost half of individuals who obtained an abortion after 20 weeks did not suspect they were pregnant until later in pregnancy, and other barriers to care included lack of information about where to access an abortion, transportation difficulties, lack of insurance coverage and inability to pay for the procedure. This is unsurprising, given abortions can be cost-prohibitive for many; in a study from 2011-2012, the median cost of a surgical abortion at 10 weeks was $495, jumping to $1,350 at 20 weeks (range $750-$5,000) excluding the cost of travel and lost wages. Yet the Federal Reserve Board found 40% of U.S. adults do not have enough in savings to pay for a $400 emergency expense, meaning many individuals may need to delay having an abortion until they can raise the necessary funds.

Fetal Anomalies: Individuals also seek abortions later in pregnancy due to medical reasons. With medical advances, many genetic fetal anomalies can be detected early in pregnancy; for example, chorionic villus sampling can diagnose Down Syndrome or cystic fibrosis as earlier as 10 weeks gestation. Structural fetal anomalies, however, are often detected much later in pregnancy. As part of routine care, a fetal anatomy scan is performed around 20 weeks, which entails ultrasound imaging of all the developing organs. Many structural anomalies are discovered at this time that would not have been apparent previously. A proportion of these are lethal fetal anomalies, meaning that the fetus will almost certainly die before or shortly after birth, meaning the fetus may be nonviable.2 In these cases, many individuals wish to terminate their pregnancies, rather than carrying the pregnancy until the fetus or newborn passes away. Very often these pregnancies are desired, making this decision exceedingly difficult for parents. Inadequate data exist to know how many abortions later in pregnancy occur due to fetal anomalies, but a study by Washington University Hospital showed almost all women whose fetuses had lethal fetal anomalies chose to terminate their pregnancies.

Health Risk to the Pregnant Person: Life threatening conditions may also develop later in pregnancy. These include conditions like early severe preeclampsia, newly diagnosed cancer requiring prompt treatment, and intrauterine infection (chorioamnionitis) often in conjunction with premature rupture of the amniotic sac (PPROM). If these conditions arise before the fetus is viable, the pregnant individual may pursue termination of pregnancy to preserve their own health. If these conditions arise after the fetus is considered viable, Roe v. Wade still protects the right for these individuals to obtain an abortion in cases of health or life endangerment, however it may be difficult to find a provider for this service as previously mentioned. Typically every effort is made to save the life of both the pregnant individual and the fetus, pursuing delivery rather than abortion.
