Has anyone got an educated guess on the date prospects can be brought up this year while avoiding super two status?
A better question is when was the last time the Astros worked this angle? Playing the Super 2 game is mostly done by teams who do not think they will make the post season.
Last season with Meyers. 2019 with Tucker (this may have been service time for an extra year, but was still later in the year due to prior service time) and Alvarez. One could argue that they were overloaded in CF for Meyers despite losing Springer. I do think they waited until they traded Straw because Dusty was manager.
Hunter Brown pulled after a 39 pitch first inning, where he allowed 2 runs on 5 base hits (1B, 1B, 2B, BB, BB) and just one strikeout. I hope he's not hurt or anything.
Thinking about being over Tyler Ivey. Not over him yet, just considering EDIT: Never mind, forgot he's not on the 40-man roster anymore
Deylen Miley looks like a solid find from the 2021 undrafted crop... 4 IP, H, 3 BB, 8 K for Fayetteville today. Miley signed out of Bellarmine, a school in Louisville that's transitioning to Division I. Already 24, so hopefully he gets an age-appropriate challenge sooner rather than later.
I am really disappointed in Leon and Lee. At this point they aren't everyday MLB players. They really need to step it up.
Corey Julks hit two homers for Sugar Land today, giving him 3 on the year. Unfortunately, they were solo shots. Sugar Land lost 10-2. Luke Berryhill has a three-run blast for Corpus, his 3rd on the season.
Leon's high K rate is the most concerning thing about any of our organization's top 10 prospects. As far as Lee, many questioned the pick as a reach at the time. At times last year looked great, and I had hopes he'd do better this year. I would give them a little more time. If they're still sucking in mid-June, then sound the alarm. On the bright side, Matijevic looks like he's finally out AAA. Hopefully he'll get more time in the Majors and prove he belongs.
Wish Lee was hitting but he should get a full year to develop in AAA, Yanier Diaz has had a pretty good season at the plate, maybe he’s the catcher of the future
