Did Raimi add jump-scares into it?

(I hate jump-scares in movies. Startling someone is not the same as scaring someone. Jump scares are a useless tactic that detract from a movie instead of improving it IMHO)

I thought it was a bit of a mixed bag, but I overall liked it.

I don't like it as much as the first, but at least it's not a complete abortion like most of what we've gotten from the MCU recently.

Not really, but he did add by far the most important thing any film can have, a Bruce Campbell cameo.

Watched it last night, thought it was really enjoyable. Marvel really let Raimi do his thing which was cool, got a lot of Evil Dead, Drag Me To Hell vibes throughout. Story isn't really all that deep lots of fun moments especially the multiverse lets them do lots of stuff with very little real consequences....

For anyone who is curious, the mid credit scene is directly related to the story....the one after the credit is just a fun nod....

I hate them too. There are a couple but the horror movie tension isn't there so they're mild and more of a surprise. I guess that's the tone of the movie- it's an action Marvel movie with some horror elements, not the other way around.

Sorry, I thought that was public knowledge already. It was talked about years ago. I saw that as similar to saying there was a Stan Lee cameo in a marvel movie back when he was alive.

I'm still thinking about this movie

I avoided as many trailers, news, videos, etc. about this movie and was not disappointed one bit. The introduction of the Illuminati blew my mind to the point where I yelled out "Whhaaaaat????" in the theaters when John Krasinski came out. It's like Marvel listened to John and all of the fans out there and obliged in casting him as Reed Richards. I hope the reboot will have Emily Blunt as Sue Storm. Professor X was dope too in that he got the OG wheelchair but I knew he was coming around. Was also sad when I realized they subbed in Captain Marvel for Black Panther (original Illuminati member) because Boseman passed away

they really dialed up Scarlet Witch’s powers. She was basically what thanos was in the infinity gauntlet comics. Which begs the question why didn’t she just tear thanos apart in seconds in the movie if she’s this powerful.

A mother's love for her kids + all the emotions that built up from the events of Wandavision + the effects of the Darkhold + Wanda probably honing her witchcraft. All of that wasn't present in IW and Endgame. If the SW in MoM was the SW in IW and Endgame, Thanos would be done in seconds. But then, it wouldn't be much of a movie.

What @Juxtaposed Jolt said. Her powers were magnified because she eventually went Walter White with the Book of Darkhold, letting witchcraft unleash her true potential because she not only lost Vision but also her fake kids. From a comics fan POV, this is in line with what Marvel made Scarlet Witch into in the mid 2010s when she basically changed reality and also killed off a crap ton of mutants.

People should definitely see this movie. Probably the 'trippiest' MCU movie, to date. But, be warned: there's a lot of death, some gore and some close ups of charred corpses. Probably not something you should take your kids to, without expecting questions afterwards.

Speaking of questions, tho...I have many, after watching the movie.

    Kamar-Taj
So, Wong and Strange naturally wanted Wanda to come to Kamar-Taj because it's essentially a home field advantage scenario. But man, they really took a backseat in trying to fight Wanda. It was like those two were generals in a war...but let their entire frontlines get decimated before joining in the fighting. It was really weird. And pretty much every 'student' got killed...but at the end of the movie, they had a lot of people still practicing magic. Like, who would want to join that academy/school/place after the destruction? It didn't really sit well with me, how Wong and Strange didn't even try to evacuate the student body, or at least go over a game plan as to SW's powers. Wong even mentioned how powerful SW was, so they had an idea of what she could do, at least.

    America Chavez
I wish they went more into this character's backstory, especially since this is the first time she's been introduced in the MCU. Like, maybe if you name-dropped her at the end of No Way Home, it'd be a lot better than just opening up the movie with her and soon-to-be-zombie Strange fighting a random demon. All we got was that she accidentally opened up a portal when she was little and her parents were sucked in to who knows where.

    Multiverse
So, 838 designated the MCU, up to this point, as 616...does this mean they know of at least 837 other multiverses? Not a comic book reader, so it's probably canon and lore that I don't know, but 838 and 616 don't seem to be random numbers.

    Wanda
I really hope this isn't the end of Wanda / Elizabeth Olsen. She was the best part of the whole movie, and might be the best villain in the entire MCU, to date. Her acting was so good and her line delivery (especially to Mr. Fantastic about there'll at least someone at home to take care of his kids after she makes him a permanent absentee father lol) was incredible.

But in order to "escape the grasp of the Darkhold," she buried herself under rocks? Like, was that really the way to go? You're SW and talking to Strange, with Chavez and Wong standing right there. Surely, the four of you can come up with some other alternative to combating the Darkhold's power, instead of just taking the easy way out?

It almost gets hard to judge Marvel movies by themselves nowadays. It was certainly good compared to your average MCU movie.

Man, did not think Marvel would go there with Scarlett Witch. Something like this would have been unthinkable not too long ago, that was brutal for a mainline MCU movie.

Patrick Stewert getting killed off as Professor X for the 80th time

Just going to reply randomly because there are too many people to quote:

    Scarlett Witch
She was kicking Thanos's ass until he called down a bombardment in Endgame. Then, as @steddinotayto said, she got juiced with the darkhold. She was a great villain. She's also signed to six or seven more movies, so it's not the end of the road for Wanda. In the comics she's one of the most powerful characters.

    Illuminati
Very cool fan service. I think I liked Captain Carter the most, and Blackbolt was a complete surprise for me. I had Reed Richards spoiled for me on Wednesday, ****ing internet. They fought sort of stupidly though.

Not sure if you guys caught it, but that Professor X was from the X-Men cartoon, not the Fox movies. They played a little jingle from the cartoon when he rolled up, he had the chair and even the green suit. So the X-Men '97 show will have extra meaning for the overall MCU/multiverse

    America Chavez
They were supposed to introduce her in Spidey 3 but she got edited out. I agree that some backstory would have been nice but they covered it well. It's too bad they didn't say Mutants in this movie, though.

    Kamar-Taj
One gripe I have about the MCU is how dumb armies fight. The Wakanda fighting scenes in particular are stupid- they have the most advanced tech in the world but their tactics are from the Napoleonic era. Line up and shoot. Same thing for the Kamar-Taj battle. Stand all grouped together and shoot. Boring and dumb.

    Multiverse
616 is the number of the dimension of the main comics. I thought it was dumb that they introduced the MCU as 616 in Spidey 2. There are infinite universes, though. The Exiles Comic is a super team that dimension hops across the multiverse like Sliders. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Exiles_(Multiverse)

What a snooze fest. Complicated plot, and too many CGI visuals. I usually don't fall asleep during Marvel movies, but got a good nap in on this one.

Didn't the Time Keepers have the abilities/tools to go into any multiverse? Why can't Wanda just show up to the TVA and be like .. lemme borrow one of those baton things.
