    1. I've read the book and yes, PK Dick wrote in the 1960's. Enjoyed the book as a clever 'what if.'

    2. True. But it's tiring and a crutch for some bad writing in many cases.

    3. Wow.

Starlord called Thanos 'Grimace' in Avengers: Infinity War.

So how can you be upset with Man in the High Tower because of the alt stuff?

Do you just want them to change the premise of the book?

The what-if is the entire point of the book.

It seems you have issues with the shows just being bad and blame it on the alt stuff.

I love alt-reality stuff and wish it was mined more but I understand how some stuff can be overkill.

I forgot about Thanos being called grimace I thought it was just another terrible idea.

I'm not being perfectly consistent, but I'm pretty close. I think you just don't want to understand or want to argue, and that's okay. Let me try this:

    multiverse =/= alternate histories.

I love the basic premise of MITHC (the book) just like I love The Plot Against America (where Lindbergh runs, beats FDR, and keeps America out of WW2 as he cozies up to Hitler). In pure alternative histories, you don't freaking hop around between timelines, fracture into little pieces of yourself, meet a version of yourself with ballroom gowns and third eyes, etc. An alternate history poses one fully realized track, and I find that quite entertaining. I know there's some hopping and intentional confusion in the book, but I didn't like that part, even as a kid, and I think the TV show introduced a quantum portal device that PKD did not have, (but I may have simply blotted that from my memory.)

But hey, in the end, y'all enjoy your multiverses. You have ... (wait for it) ... many to choose from! :D
So I was was once the lone BBS voice going against polo shirts, I'm okay being the lone voice that wants the multiverse off his lawn(s).

This makes perfect sense, I understand how you could be turned off, but you said you were tired of just alt history period which did not make sense with MITHT.

I am not a fan of the multiverse stuff, but I don't consider it alt history, or at least the way it's being presented by marvel, I think they have a lot of other great stuff to drive storylines.

I have not seen any of the multiverse stuff, so I cannot comment, I think I will not be a big fan,I have been pretty meh on marvel movies as a whole I think maybe 5 of them have been good to great.

OK...so McDonald's does have one redeeming quality...their fries are pretty good...when fresh and hot.

I've seen it done well...but overall, I tend to agree...it seems lazy to me. That may be really unfair, but that's my gut feel on it.

Just checking out some of the initial reviews and they aren't as glowing as I had hoped. Currently at 78% on rotten tomatoes. I have stayed away from all the potential spoilers and such before watching this movie. It really spoiled Spiderman No Way Home knowing that we were likely going to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield before the movie even started.

    Just got back.

Great movie, top 10 Marvel movie. Not better than Spidey 3 by any means (I have that rated between 3 and 4 on my list) but still a great movie to go see in the theatre. It was really cool the way the story and action unfolded. And it was pretty much nonstop action the whole time. Very, very heavy horror elements and I can't imagine anyone but Sam Rami doing this movie with the way the story goes. My 16yo didn't know it was a horror heavy movie and was scared at times. He tends to stay away from horror so he's not numb to scary gore type stuff (this is PG13 so nothing Evil Dead level).

Lots of great fan service. Go see it.

A- from me. It was pure joy to see Sam Raimi directing another Marvel movie. He left his imprint all over this movie and it was all for the better. Fans that are in love with the MCU formula will probably feel indifferent about this movie but it’s a great departure from the standard formula. I know I got tired of it.

My suggestions to anyone going to see this: if you haven’t already done so watch WandaVision. It’s not a must but it adds more depth to the movie. Also Google America Chavez so you don’t think MCU just made up a character out of the blue.

One of my favorite epidsodes was the world where ATMs gave away free money, but each dollar was like a lottery ticket, and every week someone would win the lottery, then get executed to control population. What a way to go out!

It's definitely a Sam Rami film. Like he might be the first Marvel Director to put his personal stamp on the film.

Better than the first Dr Strange. I'd put it in the upper mid tier marvel canon and that's only because Elizabeth Olsen carried the film for the most part. Scarlet Witch top 3 MCU villian?

You don't want spoilers but you read reviews and form some level of opinion before seeing the movie?

I was curious if the sentiment was going to be Spider-Man NWH level or something lesser. I skimmed them rapidly so I could tell if the reviewer was giving commentary on the overall style of the movie or if they were giving commentary on the plot of the movie.

It was a dangerous game…but I played it
