1. Chet (for unicorn/intrigue reasons) But I'm on that tiny Green/Banchero bus 2. Banchero (I predict the Rockets pick falls here) 3. Smith 4. Ivey 5. Sharpe BKN pick (trade for defensive type player -draft/vet)
1. Jabari 2. Chet 3. Paolo 4. Murray 5. Ivey For the 17th pick: Eason Mark Williams EJ Liddell Branham ...or of course, a prospect that slides out of the lottery (Sochan, Duren, etc)
Sharpe is the sleeper in upper lottery. In a few years he my own the league or be out of it. He is steal at the 4th spot down. A Green/Sharpe combination is more than scary. Both players playing in Rick Adelman’s offense would be more than successful. Moving on from Porter, Tate & added to the Nets pic will land us a big to pair with Sengun. Wood could land us a late FRP for the best fit on said tier.
I’m praying we get the top pick, then I’m coming here every day with a tub of popcorn to watch the drama and fireworks
Personally, if we get a top two pick and don’t walk away with Jabari or Chet, I will faint. (No disrespect to your opinion/preference)
That’s a fair take in a vacuum, but we already have Sengun. So to me, this is really saying you want Banchero and Green over Sengun, Green and one of Jabari/Chet/Sharpe/Ivey/etc. I’m way higher on the potential of some of the other non-Paolo top picks to be excited about that. TBF, I’m also irrationally high on Sengun…
I don't get why people want to take a center with the 17th when we traded not 1 but 2 future firsts for Sengun last year. I mean I get needing the rebounding and shot blocking obviously, but that's a steep price for a back up big. Unless your planning on trading Sengun. I just don't see it.
The past should inform the future not create it. Sengun was a great pick and should be our starting Center next year. What we really want out of the 1st pick is a complimentary PF that plays defense and spaces the floor. If we stay at 17 there is no reason not to draft a backup center. Most players drafted that low are role players not all-stars. Sengun and our rookie should both play over 30 mins a game next year, but having a really good defensive center like Williams or Kessler being a rotation option would be great. Say Embid is really roughing up Sengun and we can bring in a Williams to help shut him down. A center at 17 is definitely a worthwhile idea.
If Im not mistaken Sengun was 2nd in rookie blocked shots per game. I think his defense is a little underrated due to him being out of his element on the perimeter switching too often last season. If you can work him closer to the basket he would make a fine last line defender IMO. He reacts well in help defense when I watch him play.
I get that. Just 2 (techically 3) firsts for the same position consecutively, when we need a solid wing with size horribly bad and will have the opportunity to get one, is IMO the wrong choice. Now if we can trade Wood, Gordon or Tate for a chance to grab a good one then great. But there would be a very good chance that due to their defensive abilities, they might supplant Sengun as the starter. So then you have spent 2 firsts for your back up center.
If we: Get the 1st pick: Chet Get the 2nd pick: Banchero Get the 3rd pick: Banchero (assuming Jabari and Chet are gone) Get the 4th pick: Ivey Get the 5th pick: work a trade down a couple of spots to acquire an additional future pick and then take Murray
He routinely got handled in the paint. Not for a lack of trying. He is tough and hustles his ass off but, he does not have the length or the lateral quickness needed to guard the bigs at this level. Thats why people want to grab a defensive big at 17.
1. Chet 2. Jabari 3. Paolo (can be talked into swapping Paolo/Jabari at 2/3) 4. Ivey 5. Sharpe Right now I think Ivey/Sharpe could also be interchangeable but one may cement themselves at 4 or possibly even higher as the draft gets closer. Sharpe's camp will probably release a lot more workout video leading up to the draft than Ivey's or anyone else's will. So there could be a bit of a bias towards him.
I think this really might be the way things turn out. I hope the Rockets will pick at 1 or 2. The first pick will obviously be preferable.
What if: 1. Houston land the 1st pick in the draft 2. OKC ends up with the 4th and 8th pick in the draft Presti offers us both for our #1, knowing fully well he intends to draft one of Holmgren, Jabari, or Paolo. Would you do the trade? You could end up with Ivey, your choice of SF at #8, and use the 17th on a big man like Kessler or Williams.
