Personally, I believe he has a higher floor than Cousins and I don't agree that he can't raise the level with better players around him--that didn't really make a lot of sense to me. With the worst OL and running game in the league he showed tremendous potential. He kept us in games we shouldn't have been in. With a better team around him, a real HC and an offensive guru guiding him, I'm expecting him and the team to be much better this year. That may still mean only 6-7 wins, but we should be much more competitive.
Define “superstar.” Is Watson a superstar? Derek Carr? Who is considered a superstar outside of Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady and Allen. I’m curious where the line is between star and superstar.
Superstar is someone who elevated the team Derek carr maintains it = not a superstar josh Allen, joe burrow etc = superstar
I just need him to be good enough to keep games competitive so I can resell game tickets. Last year was rough.
Makes sense. By that definition Mills had superstar moments against the Pats, Chargers and Titans. Let’s hope he can do it consistently over a 17 game season.
This offseason feels like a stamp of approval for Mills. The Cooks’s extension, an offensive lineman in the first, a WR in the second, a RB in the fourth. We’ve given Mills the keys. Let’s hope he can drive.
Only provisional keys if anything. The QB draft class was dog s**t, and Mills played well all considered. He'll get a year as the unquestioned guy to see if he can keep making strides and prove he's worthy of the keys. If not they'll snatch those keys right back and head in another direction.
I remember someone mentioning that Mills in the 3rd was great since he was touted as a first rounder possibly if he stayed another year in college. And looking at the rookies in this years class I really do think he would have gone in the first. So it’s cool we got to spend those firsts on some other important cogs.
Honestly this could not have gone better for the Texans. You had a crap year bc Watson all of a sudden demanded trade but let's be fair that just gave you a excuse to suck bc in all likely hood they would have sucked anyway. So now you pick a QB that showed he deserves another year. It just so happens you didn't want to pick a QB in this draft anyway. So now you build your team around the kid and if he sucks it up then you use the high pick on a QB in a draft with (hopefully) good qbs. Or he takes advantage of a improved offensive line that will be getting a borderline all pro lt, along with a olineman taken in the first. Improve run game and hopefully more weapons to become a legit QB and we then dont have to waste a pick.
