According to one of the articles on the site I believe it says that Malick has signed a 4 year deal with the Opel Skyliners and I have no clue if there is a buyout clause for the Rockets to make him play over here.

The team has said that Malick is a big part of the team so I don't know if that means he is staying but i wish he would come over here and play this season with the departure of Cato, Badiane would be a nice edition.

o3gs, any word on Badiane from what you know???

Badiane averaged something like 2 points again in Germany...I dont think there is any way he ever makes the team.

The Rockets stated after he was drafted that they would send him to Europe for at least 2 years to develop.

I can't begin to comprehend why everyone placed so much hope on Badiane. Let's see... he was a second rounder, from Senegal where he didn't have access to the best coaching, he's RAW with not much skills, just tall. Just because the Rockets drafted him doesn't mean he's good. We'll be lucky if he's sitting on our bench 45 minutes a game in 5 years; not much use asking about him.

You know, I've wondered the same thing. Only a very small percentage of second rounders ever play significant time in the NBA.

I think the legend was created from the summer league reports that came in about his play. He may still end up being a decent back up down the line, but the guy is not close to ready for the NBA.

That is the darkest man I have ever seen. Plus he looks like the main character from The Air Up There. :D

Well, let him take all the time he needs in Europe. He wouldn't fit on this team presently.

I'd rather see him in our training camp, in our practices, and on our injury list than back someone up in Germany.

    He needs NBA-style training.

The guy is a physical freak of nature. Very raw. His wingspan is much londer than his height. But his team has a better PF than him so Malick gets no playing time. He definantly needs to play a couple years in Europe before he could even average 10 points/game here.

If we have an extra spot on the bench, he would get more experince practicing and scrimiging here than sitting on the bench overseas.

However, getting excited about any 2nd round pick is a little ridiculous to me. Yeah, sometimes you find a gem, but nobody ever expected it. Hence, no reason to piss your pants. :)

I think people here were just excited because he was our only draft pick. It would be nice to get a 1st round draft pick again. Then he can keep Boki company on the bench. :D

Well, I saw him play in the summer league and I don't see why he's not in the NBA already. I was very impressed, and I like to think I'm a pretty good judge of talent.

What was crazy was the way he ran the court, he'd outrun everyone. And I know yall won't believe me, but he did a couple of moves inside that were very Dream-like. Just watch, this guy is gonna surprise alot of people whenever he comes here.

Badiane has got some giant hands ~ he looks like he's holding a tennis ball.

I like those euro-style uniforms.
