This hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy feature serves as something of a meta-revival of the iconic 1990s cartoon of the same name. In the film, Chip and Dale are living amongst cartoons and humans in modern-day Los Angeles, but their lives are quite different. It has been decades since their successful television series was cancelled, and Chip (John Mulaney) has succumbed to a life of suburban domesticity as an insurance salesman. Dale (Andy Samberg), meanwhile, has had CGI surgery and works the nostalgia convention circuit, desperate to relive his glory days. When a former castmate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life. Also joining the cast are Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons and Chris Parnell. Directed by Akiva Schaffer, penned by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, and produced by Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, the film premieres on May 20th on the Disney+ service. Some Who Framed Roger Rabbit vibes here, might be funny or crap....
Interesting concept. Definitely Roger rabbit vibes. Just glad to see something a little different from Disney, as someone that isn’t a Marvel nut.
