Did I hear that correctly? Pelican fans yelling “Pels in 6!” ?? Well, that’s enough basketball for the weekend. Not that there’s any more left.
This Pelicans team will also be used as an example of why to keep the play-in tourney as they discuss this next season and hopefully (IMO) keep it permanently. They wouldn't be here without it and I think the one thing it does is keep teams competitive and teams that have dealt with injuries can have a fleeting hope that they can sneak into the play-in and make a run.
naw man.. you start searching and searching for your guy like OKC. How many people do you want on a team? only 7-8 players play in the Playoffs. Try and win and use those pick you get to make your team stronger..
I mean, the players and coaches tried to get to the playoffs this season. The team sucks and will still suck next year - we might even be worse if we trade away Tate and other vet role players. We'll be one of the worst teams yet again next year, that is for certain.
Yep. I feel the same way. I hope we get a vet PG to actually back up KPJ like a Conley/Rubio type and another vet three and D guy. I think we have enough young prospects. Green, Sengun, Nix, Garuba, and whoever we draft this year which could (hopefully) be another elite prospect. EDIT: Knew I was forgetting someone, Josh Christopher too.
We need at least 2 / 3 stars to win. We may have one in Jalen Green. We are far from ready to compete. Once we have 2 stars we can package up assets for a veteran 3rd. Similar to what the Pelicans and Suns did. Booker and Ayton necessitated CP3. Pelicans have Ingram and Zion (next year) CJ McCollum is their CP3 move. Once we get a legit 2nd young super star next to Jalen Green we can get a veteran leader and go for it.
they tried to get into the playoffs playing vets. I dont think this team is that bad. I dont care what anyone tells me, I'll die on that hill. If the 4 rookies were playing and they told Wood to give the ball to Jalen Green and they weren't trying to develop KPJ, Rockets would have had a better record.
The Pels are going through the honeymoon phase. The difference is they are doing this without their perceived superstar, which makes it all the more impressive. Credit to Willie Green... to even get it to 2-2 against what was supposed to be a generational Suns team is quite the effort.
Golden State stopped searching after drafting Steph, Klay and Draymond. We can stop after Jalen, Jabari and Wembanyama.
only Steph and Klay were lottery picks, they didn’t need to be terrible in order to draft Draymond the Suns had Booker and Ayton Rockets have Jalen Green and another top pick incoming we don’t need to be absolute trash next year some of y’all would have us tanking until the cows come home If we don’t get Wembanyama, then what?
Tad surprised at this series, even with the Booker injury. The Pels were just not very good this year. Oh wait, I didn't mention the Rockets in the Suns-Pels thread -- I messed up.
Ok ok. Herb Jones is a demon on defense. Wish we drafted him. He’s everything I expected Garuba to be defensively, but with less rebounding and better ball handling. 2nd round pick and biggest steal of the draft. And to add insult to unjury, Jose Alvarado wasn’t even drafted.
I don't think their record represents how good they could be going forward. Ingram only played 55 games. CJ only played the latter half of the season and is an upgrade over Hart. Murphy, Herb and Alvarado all got better as the season went along. I'm not saying they are a WCF material now or next year but I think they have a puncher's chance at the least against the Suns..
