I like Mark Williams as well; but I don't see much chance of Tari Eason being
available at #17.....even less chance of Mark Williams being there as well.
You never know, I was told Garuba would go late teens.
    ____________
You know I like Charles Bassey. 76ers keep praising the kid. I don't know if
it's like when the Rockets pushed Melton or what? I will link some articles
    after I post the stats.

    Final college season:
    Walter Kessler: 7'1" 245 lbs
    11.4 pts...8.1 TRB......0.9 Ast.....60.8 (FG%)...1.5 (3PA).....20.0% (3P%)
    59.6 (FT%)....62.7 (eFG%)...4.6 (Blks)
    -------
    Charles Bassey: 6'10" 235 lbs
    15.9 pts...10.5 TRB...0.8 Ast...59.6% (FG%)...2.1 (3PA)....31.9% (3P%)
    76.8% (FT%)....61.6 (eFG%)....3.1 (Blks)

Kessler had more blocks per game but Bassey had a better FT%, pts, TRB, and 3P%.

    https://clutchpoints.com/sixers-players-coaches-react-charles-bassey-breakout-showing-nuggets/

    https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/202...xers-rookie-charles-bassey-can-be-nba-player/

    https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/202...rles-bassey-for-big-game-in-win-over-nuggets/

I would trade Kessler for Bassey.

It was garbage time but Bassey this season averaged: per 36-mins:
    14.8 pts...13.3 TRB...1.5 Ast...1.1 stls...3.6 Blks...129 ORtg....103 DRtg
That's 76ers.....not the Blue Coats of the G-league stats

Are there any other good players that might be potentially available from 18 downwards for the 17th and Tate or the 17th and Nwaba?

Well it's kinda slim pickins my friend. Not sure there is better than Bruno Fernando or
    Diakite in past years.

John Butler 7'1" but only 190 lbs is super raw.

Jaylin Williams 6'10", raw but smart BB I Q. Can he learn to shoot 3's better.
Does a lot of things well and takes charges like Garrison Mathews.

Moussa Diabete. Nice player 6'10" 210 lbs. Doesn't shoot 3's much at all.
Can he learn to be a shooter?

    Christian Koloko. 7'1" 225 lbs 73.5% (FT%) 2.8 Blks, 12.6 pts, 7.3 TRB. Capela role ready.

    -----------------

Everyone knows I like Patrick Baldwin. If I was a scout or GM I would push hard
for Baldwin. I might take a bath on him as a miss, but what the heck.....projected
around #25 but to take him #17 or so is no big crime. Not exactly a felony.

Just a poor season as a number one option. I'm wondering if he injured a wrist
or something because he is a way better shooter than this year presented.
Perhaps like many tall players needed some PG play to get him in better
position. Tall, quick release, 3-pt shooter, not afraid to shoot high volume
of 3's at the NBA level, I'm sure. Fundamentally Smart, son of a coach.

Bryce McGowens. Poor shooting splits but tantalizing body and potential. Fluid athlete, Tyrese Haliburton vibes body wise

Had to Google the meaning of "Koloko" on Google... for those interested, it apparently doesn't mean "wood".

    @saleem

I may not have understood your question.

When someone says "downward" in the draft I think moving towards #30
and moving "up" in the draft as moving towards #1.

I didn't explain myself properly. Moving up is tougher, so I thought which team below 17 might be willing to give up one of their good players currently on their squad for the 17th pick and Tate. I have come to the conclusion, that this will not be inticing enough or at all.

Trying to move up with Wood, Tate, Nwaba and the 17th pick in some combination is better, like Clutch and other posters have proposed.

I do think if the Rockets end up with the fifth pick, they should take a swing at Benedict Mathurin if he measures at 6'6" instead of the safer 6'8" Keegan Murray or even at Sharpe if he is really worthy of a high selection.

I'll settle for Walker Kessler at 17, despite my desire to go after a more talented player. This draft class is much tougher for me than the outgoing one. Stone slammed a home run in my opinion. This time it will be trickier. Let's hope for the best.

Mathurin has all star potential, and should absolutely be in the mix at 5.

Koloko only option I like on your list for #17.

Nzosa or Badji are intriguing SRP or UDFA.

Man, speaking of Bruno... his draft comparisons were Steven Adams/Serge Ibaka and scouting reports said "... at times his play evokes memories of Hakeem Olajuwon with his spin moves and baby hooks.".

Fellas, we already have our other big man of the future on the roster!

It seems the lesson here is to take a European big man in this range.

If the pick is half as Dekker, Royce White, Terrence Jones, added together to the 4th power the Rockets will be back in the playoffs sooner rather than later.

Yeah I would always take a flyer on a euro big man at the bottom of the 1st or 2nd round.
