http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/draft2004/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&id=1828932 Grade: C Round 2: Vassilis Spanoulis, PG, Greece (No. 50) Deals: Traded rights to Flores to Dallas for draft rights of Vassilis Spanoulis (PG, Greece) Spanoulis was one of my international sleeper picks. At 6-foot-4, he's tough, fearless and, at the age of 22, could be a great pick-up here. I think he'll eventually play, a la Emanuel Ginobili or Mehmet Okur, in the NBA. This was by that jackass Chad Ford, just to let you know.
how can you even rate a 50th draft pick in the same year? If he busts, it is par for the course. If he becomes a bench player its above average, and if he ever starts its a great pick. But you can't tell anything until 2-3 seasons later? i give this post a c+
Uhh, he meant that just as Manu and Okur were late picks who later gave to the league to be productive players, V-Span would eventually give the Rockets a return.
we may have to call in all of those former picks that ended up oversees if this tmac deal goes through
The Chronicle gave the same thing. Houston - C - Needs: Power forward, scoring small forward and point guard. - Comment: Tough shoes for Spanoulis to fill, coming in to replace the "Franchise." But with McGrady on board, the point guard doesn't have to do nearly as much.
Ford is not saying they are similar players. He's saying that he is similar to Okur and Ginobili in that he will stay playing international for a year or so and then look to make the jump to the NBA.
All Chad Ford's "copy and paste" "insider" job, the 3 extra spins he tried to put up and get **** in his face again each time, all deserv a grade of F !
