Once or twice a year? Did you mean week, maybe? I've been getting basically daily spam texts for a long while. If there's been an uptick in recent weeks, I haven't noticed it.
Nope I almost never got spam txts. I get spam calls all the time but the spam txt thing is new to me.
I have a trac flip phone (for emergencies) that I never look at. I have a 2nd gmail account that I check every month or so. I use these any and every time I sign up for something or a (non-local) business asks for a phone number (that they don't need). I get maybe 1 spam call every 2 weeks. Can't remember the last spam text.
Do you have t-mobile? https://www.tmonews.com/2022/04/t-mobile-customers-target-new-spam-message/ This stupid message finally stopped over the weekend I think.
I get spam texts ALL THE TIME. Whoever used to have my number must have spread it around like wildfire. I keep getting messages for "Karol" asking about "my" property on Navigation Blvd. I pulled it up on Google Maps and it's a.......fire station. WTF? My name is not Karol and I don't own a fire station that I'm thinking about putting on the market. I have an app that blocks all calls not on my contact list, which is awesome. There is nothing they can do about texts though. People always say to just block them, but when it's a different spoofed number every time, there is literally NOTHING you can do. BTW, don't EVER click on a link from a text.
I have a burner Google voice number that I use when I don't want to give my real number. Got a text the other night that a friend or family member is in jail. Googled the number and it belongs to a bail bond place. Figured it was just a scam or wrong number and ignored it. Turned out to be real.
Yea, got one of those this week. The best part, is then I got a bunch of responses from others in the group saying "STOP". This morning I woke up to a msg with a pic of some chic in a bra. No text, just a pic.
Relative I haven't talked to in 20+ years. My guess is the bond company looked up public records and messaged or called any relatives. My wife got a text about it and she doesn't have a Texas phone number and has never met this person.
