Yeah, what kind of Rockets fans am I getting attached to a star player that played his heart out for us for 5 straight seasons, hardly missing a game, getting co-ROY, 3 all-star appearances, getting into the playoffs his last season, and once being the only hope this team seemed to have. And now that we see a NEW hope - however far-fetched it still is - we dump him out of the blue like he was never anything to us, and he complains oh-so-unjustly. Just who does he think he is??? Why bother hating him if he asked to be traded from his own team because he thinks he's too good for them, or if he raped the girl he cheated on his wife with, or if he got caught 5 times with mar1juana in his car, or if he was skipping practices all the time cuz he's "too good" to need them, or if he was b****ing to the coach about not getting to start after an injury, or if he was getting into locker-room fights with his teammates, or if he was b****ing off the court with teammates, or if he was refusing to shoot in a game after a little inner-team feud, or if he was shooting at his ex with a gun, or if he choked his coach, or if he got ejected from every other game, or if he was an alcoholic who refused to get help, or if he was a free agent and left us after saying he would stay, or if he dumped the Olympics for "rest" or "security reasons", or if he was a lazy b*stard with no work ethic or passion. No, screw that, let's hate him because he gave us everything he had but it wasn't enough for us, and THEN let's hate him even MORE when he says he wants to stay with the team he started his career with even though he'll get more attention on the team he would be traded to, and saying this could cost him his dignity. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Even if there are alterior motives for Steve protesting, which there might be, it is CLEAR that he wanted to stay with us, and that's admirable, especially given all the painful criticism he was taking from the city and from the league. Assholes. (BTW, interesting how the scapegoat changes so conveniently after Rudy gets fired. You people always get what you want. Who will be your target next year when we're gone in the first round again???)
Who hates him? I have seen fans that don't like his game (myself included) but no one hates the guy. It is a business, and we are getting a better player, maybe one who will actually get on the plane with his team than attend the super bowl? Francis has proven who he is, time and time again....a very athleticlly gifted player, who plays his heart out. I wish him all the luck....in ORLANDO !! DD
no - he just skips a Conference game to go to the superbowl that being said, I think that most people in the city like Steve Francis and did not want to activly shop him around.... BUT when you get a chance at a future hall of famer (yes - I said it) like T-mac, you have to pull the trigger. Francis needs the ball too much to have an impact - and he had 5 years to do it in Houston - he will be missed, but we have to move on - as for the Olympics - well... considering that TWO players on the WORLD CHAMPS backed out (even though their COACH is heading up the team) - lets cut T-mac some slack - I have always been in favor of letter the guys who WANT to play... try out (instead of the "invite" garbage)
