Other than Star Wars or the Avengers, they are entities onto their own. Aliens LOTR Mission Impossible Terminator Matrix. That's off the top of my head. Never watched any of the FF movies, just too fantastical for me in an otherwise real world setting. Single most disappointing is the X Men, maybe 1 1/2 good movies in the entire series. I would say Batman, but other than the Darknight they all were kinda meh.
1st 3 Die Hards, 1st 3 Indiana Jones, MadMax, James Bond, Lethal Weapon (1st 2, maybe 3 but I don't really remember it, plus the Always Sunny ones) 1st 2 Predators plus the movie "Predators", 1st 3 Jack Ryan movies all deserve mention
Mad Max Batman (Christian Bale) The Matrix Die Hard Indiana Jones James Bond should probably be up there with Star Wars and Marvel
Die Hard (I personally prefer 1, 3, and then 4) I think 2 had its parts that were decent but not as good as the other 3, forget about 5. Pretty much Buck's list though, I prefer action movies like he's listed. Of course original Matrix, John Wick, and Terminator (1&2) are great too. Anyone's list not mentioning some form of Die Hard should re-watch Die Hard. I think it's held up pretty great and is one of the few movies I can watch regularly. Rambo of course can probably get a mention too, but the original movie wasn't meant to be a franchise.
Man I forgot about some of these, Mad Max needs to be in there, and it's the reason I thought about making the list. I don't know how to feel about Die Hard, I enjoyed a couple of the movies but never wanted to rewatch. I probably do need to watch again.
Out of all the movies mentioned so far, I'm thinking the Mission Impossible, James Bond, F&F, Mad Max, Batman, and Indiana Jones franchises are the only ones that have much, if any, life left in them. Not really sure where they could take Mad Max next, though, TBH. Guess it's only a matter of time before there's another Jurassic Park movie. Or Jason Bourne... Of all of them, I would most like to see some new Indiana Jones flicks, even if that means recasting Indy. Just read that Idris Elba has a Luther movie coming to Netflix and that it's being billed as a Jason Bourne/Bond-esque movie. Could be interesting.
Oh man! Thanks for the heads up, love Luther, didn't mean to derail thread but will definitely have to check that out. I also definitely agree with you, like there's not a lot left/places to take some of these. Indy would be cool, I just have a hard time seeing someone pull off Ford, it just seems harder to make it work vs when a new Bond/Batman comes around, I do think the newer mad max did a great job so it's probably possible to pull off, but l also like Hardy in a lot of roles so I am probably biased. With that said, if someone does pull off recasting Indy, I'd definitely see it probably multiple times, like the new mad max
Yes, definitely try the at least the original again and probably part 3 at a minimum. I think it's definitely worth your time. I also like all the franchises you mentioned so I think you'll enjoy it, just skip 5 though... I might try it that one again, especially with the recent Bruce Willis news but that's the one die hard I didn't finish/see multiple times.
Mad max has a young Furioso movie coming out. Luther has been on life support for a while not looking forward to a Netflix movie, especially if he supposed to be Bond esque, that's not Luther at all.
Luther does sound interesting. Truthfully, I couldn't get into the series. But I only watched like one and a half episodes. I loved Indiana Jones and that rather cartoonish, for lack of a better word, universe when I was younger (I even watched the young Indiana Jones series, lol). I can't imagine anyone doing a better job with the role, but I'm game if someone wants to try. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't have to be a big name actor or big budget affair. Just give me something as good or better as Allan Quatermain & The Lost City Of Gold and I'm in. I just hated everything about the chick in Luther. Will have to see if I can find it again.
I loved her, but ilike women who are a little crazy, they tried too hard to keep her relevant, and it started not making any sense anymore.
Life would be pretty dull with a perfectly sane , good woman. That I'm pretty sure of. My problem with her is she looked the part. That's a no-go in my book.
I think they need to go with a different type of Indy instead of trying to get young Harrison, its a fools errand.
Tarantino at one point wanted to remake First Blood, no idea who the actor would/should/could have been. The book is pretty great.
in the order from most family to least family fast and furious mission impossible final destination terminator home alone
