If you want to use the "winning" argument for an award that's given to guys who are essentially going to be the future of their organizations, then that's fine. But in order to do so, the other rookie would have to be putting up similar statistics while doing so in a winning fashion. Herb Jones would probably be the 3rd or 4th best rookie on the Rockets. And he's being touted as a Top 5 rookie in this class? This is really weird. They should just save everyone time (Matt Moore is another who said he wouldn't even put Jalen on either all rookie team) and just say they don't like Green. At least that makes sense.
Somehow, @Mathloom is prophetic again. Now the Jalen being a losing statpadder narrative is gaining traction.

I don’t care for rookie awards. Just don’t rob my guy when it comes to career defining accolades like MVP, Allstar and All-NBA
The moment Jalen took so many L's to start the season: Im talking about starting slow after talking sh*t, the All Star Weekend, etc, I knew the narrative set in. Bro, I saw it! It's Harden's defensive highlights tape all over again. Media has already set the narrative for Jalen and its going to be a LOOONG road to get out of it now. everything he does now will be slighted. Jalen Green just went on a historic rookie scoring run and not a peep from the media Thread title by OP is either GOATED or CURSED for safety.
Yup at this point we are all living in the moment. If Green makes second team this year and 5 years later he is making all-nba teams, no one is going to remember that he was in the second rookie team. No one gives a **** about that award after a year.
sadly, I think Jalen is done in the media. they already labeled him. Jalen is going to have to go supernova just to beat the narrative already set out. We gonna have to fight harder for him than we did for Harden.. I'm still weak from the Harden Era defense.
for me at least, it's more of a harbinger of things to come and less about Jalen making the first team. they are already mitigating what he is doing now off some silly sh*t. The narrative that Jalen is selfish, a chucker, arrogant instead of confident, doesn't make winning plays, has already set in.
I don’t think it will be close to that at all. To me Green if his play and stats, then down the line the wins come. He will be one of if not the most popular players in the NBA. If the 3 above really pop off I could see him getting the most votes for the western conference all star game. He has a ways to go though in that. I could see him even making the all star next year.
I e seen the chucker comments on various social media sites and that definitely irks me because anyone who watches Rockets basketball this season knows that Green makes it a near mission to score points within the flow of an offense. He definitely isn't a chucker.
