This is not for trade ideas... just suggestions on who the Rockets should pursue as free agents or trades and why they would be good fits... For example, I think Thybulle from Philly could be useful as a backcourt defender off the bench in a similar role as Marcus Smart in Boston. I could see him make Green a better player in practice as well as taking on tougher scorers to ease the burden on porter or green on that side of the ball. The Sixers like him but I don't know if it's enough to sign him long term given their cap situation.
I wouldn't add anyone this offseason aside from the draft picks. Next year is when I look to make a big deal with John Wall & EG coming off the books for a combined $66.934m Next year is all about getting the young players already on the roster all the playing time they can handle.
I'd like to try and snag mo bamba some how, much more realistic than ayton, especially if we don't land chet in the draft. Rubio would be a nice 1 yr vet to help run the offense and help further improve the youngsters. Especially if, I HOPE, we trade ego and wood.
great target, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t see him wanting to come to Houston. I’m sure he’ll have much better options.
I’d like to get Covington cheap because he’s a good team defender and the young guys could both learn and benefit from that. Unlikely he joins a non contender though. I just want off ball 3&D guys, nothing else, no headaches, no one who needs the ball or doesn’t play defense, definitely no one who can’t shoot.
I really do believe that bamba is one of them "obtainable" RFAs that at a certain $ amount Orlando won't match. He's really started to grow this year as well.
This. One more high pick in 2023. Then get TWO max free agents (Jokic and someone). Championship 2023-2024.
I'm also going Chris Boucher as my diamond in the rough. 6'9" & 200 lbs 43.9% (DFG%) 31.3% (3P-DFG%) 59.4% ( < 6 ft DFG%) 77.7% (FT%) per-36 minutes: 16.1 pts...10.5 TRB...1.6 Blks...1.0 stls per 100 possessions: 124 ORtg and 108 DRtg used at every position this season: PG (1%)...SG (24%)...SF (46%)...PF (26%)...C (4%) shot 30% (3P%) for season but first two months he got about 14 minutes per game but then averaged over 20 minutes a game every month after and shot better. 3P% per month Oct-24% Nov-15% Dec-32% Jan-34% Feb-32% March 29% April-39% on about 4 (3PA's) per game ____________________ UFA this summer, not sure if other teams see this (so what's his price tag?); could we do a Schroder SnT for peanuts or Eric Gordon trade with Toronto (SnT). Guessing EGo salary is way too high ($19.6M) or C Wood ($14M) x Toronto (SnT) Schroder could have a field day passing to some of the players they have.
Bamba could be realistic but i worry about the Theis situation playing out again... Definitely need rim protection and he addresses that.
I wouldn't mind him as a starting 3 and hopefully using our top pick on a 4 who can defend... I don't know why he would come here other than for minutes or money... i don't think he's a starter on a contender... Maybe convince him he's going to see 35 minutes a night and he can rehab his value on a 1 or 2 year deal for one last big contract?
I feel like so many things would have to go right for this, but if Ayton’s not #1 on Stone’s board, I’m not sure what we are doing.
