Cheating in baseball has been going on from the beginning. Not arguing if it's right or wrong. What I will say, if you're SO concerned about your signals being stolen than how F'n stupid are you to not come up with a system to keep this from happening (or minimizing it as much as possible)? Even if the signals change inning to inning and ESPECIALLY in the playoffs. Fiers played with the Astros and knew what they were doing when he was with Oakland. He got SHELLED one start against Hou like 10-0. Was it because he sucked or they were stealing signs? Does it really matter? You of all people knew what they were doing so wouldn't it make sense to be changing the signs every inning or come up with a better way of disguising them?? Same with the Yankees. Beltran played with the Yankees ('14-'16). He was the one that came up with the system in NY or just benefitted from the system. Either way he's now with your opponent (Hou) and how naive do you have to be if you don't think Beltran didn't bring this same system to Houston (or a variation of it) or to just know that they're definitely trying to cheat?? You also knew the Red Sox were using Apple watches back in Aug of '17 and took those allegations to MLB. So you find yourself playing HOU in the ALCS (with Beltran) and thus how F'n stupid do you have to be if you're not coming up with a sophisticated plan to disguise the signs?? And you try to spin losing on this? I guess it had nothing to do with only scoring 1,1, 1 and 0 runs in the four games in Htown and only had 19 hits in those four games?? EVERY team cheats!!! Multiple players have said this repeatedly. The Stros were the ones who were made the poster child and the scapegoats because no way are they coming down on the Red Sox, the Yankees or the Dodgers, coincidently the three teams Hou beat in the playoffs. And no the penalties against BOS were laughable. No matter what MLB tries to do there will ALWAYS be cheating.....trying to gain a slight edge wherever you can. The joke of it all is the hypocrisy of MLB and teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers. If nothing unethical was done why would you care if the letter was opened as it should have been from the very beginning? I think we all know the answer to this.
As a casual baseball Astros fan for the past several(?) years I still don't understand why this is such a big deal. Feels like Beltran is saying this now because we dont have Correa to tell the entire earth to shut the f*ck up. Missing U Carlos.
Because we beat the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox in 2017. If we beat the Rays,Athletics and Brewers this story would have gone away a long time ago. But the 3 largest fanbases and baseball markets are butt hurt.
people will believe whatever they want to believe irrespective of facts presented to them. There’s been more than enough credible info presented already…it won’t change a thing unfortunately.
Why do people bring up the buzzer like it’s based in any kind of reality? It’s literally the fictional creation of one person on twitter. You might as well ask Beltran if it’s true that Altuve manipulated space and time to slow the pitch down before hitting it. Anyways as you can tell I’m way over this thing. But we all should be. Anybody that cares anymore isn’t being convinced one way or another.
It's about time a 2017 Astro speaks out against Beltran. From what's been implied, Beltran was the player ring leader and now he's throwing the whole team under the bus for his personal gain. The Astros probably never would have had the trashcan banging system without him. They followed his veteran leadership.
Weren't the Dodgers the most blatant users of sticky tack, which has been illegal for at least 75 years in MLB, under the Dave Roberts regime? Whereas, the sign stealing with technology was only sent out as an email that same year?
lol, Stacie is an idiot, they still believe the players cheated during the WS. Watch the games and listen, no banging and if there was banging you could've never heard it. If this was their scheme you can't make trash can jokes and then not admit no banging in the WS. As CC said "if you don't know the facts.......
This kinda makes it worse for MLB players to say other teams were doing it. I apprecate the honesty, but really all it's doing is keeping the 5 year old story going. If these players really had some balls, they'd share who these other cheating teams are. Everyone knows most teams were doing it - even our butt-hurt brethren in LA, NY and Boston, although they'd never admit it. If these MLBers really know other teams were doing it, share those ****ng details. I am surpirsed no Astros have named names.
