Baby goats and lambs are cute as hell. Castrate them as early as you can and they get delicious around 6 months old.
Always found it slightly hilarious that no religion has an issue with killing lambs. Geese, I'd understand. They all deserve to die horrible, horrible deaths.
Know someone who breeds some on a *small scale. They do little things like collect cashmere, goat milk, occasionally sell the new ones, stuff like that. They don't eat them though. Not their own anyways. When we go out, like at a restaurant, he orders goat meat, so that hasn't changed.
This place used to be my go to for Hot Pot. The pic of the Little Sheep is so adorable! They have a location on Westheimer at Fountain View, and another on Bellaire Blvd. I used to tear it up on the lamb, my favorite meat for Hot Pot. Theirs recently been an influx of Hot Pot spots in Houston, that I haven't been back in a few years. But lamb is still my go to meat for these restaurants
They sell the broth mixes at Asian grocery stores. Go to H-Mart, get the mix, buy your sliced meats, seafood, and veggies. You got DIY hot pot there at a fraction of the cost. If you're Asian, you already have a portable butane stove. If you don't, get one. They're so useful.
It's pretty good, but there've been so many good Hot Pot places popping up lately, that I'd be surprised if the Houston locations will last long. Especially as mentioned by @Duncan McDonuts , they have Little Sheep branded ready mixes at grocery stores for cheap My favorite spot right now for Hot Pot is Haidalao in Katy Asia Town. I highly recommend adding the lamb as protein......
