In the last few days I keep on getting spam texts saying "Free Msg: Your bill is paid for March. Thanks and here's a little gift for you: (some weblink)" It's from a number I don't recognize and I can't block it because it keeps on coming from different numbers and the links are different. Has anybody else been getting this type of spam?
I’ve gotten 400 of them. I replied **** off Russia and 30 people started replying to me saying let’s fight.
Very annoying. Haven’t responded to any of them in case it’s from people who’s phones were hacked or just spoofed. Which there was a way I could block based on content. For calls from numbers I don’t recognize I don’t pick up but can’t do that with texts
Yeah I get those spams too. Happens if you donate to a political campaign. What's more annoying is that they are not just spamming the email address I used to donate but also other emails addresses including work one's.
I've been getting a lot of texts from wankers wanting to buy my home. Has anyone actually bought a home from someone using an unsolicited spam text message? One would go like..."How's it going over there at <insert address here>?". Yea...wouldn't you like to know? I get some other strange texts referring to Shark Tank. lol. WTF? I got one that said I had a virus and all my photos had been deleted. Uh huh...sure!
Text 1...Did you vote yet? Hey I'm here to help from the blah blah blah Text 2...You qualify for up to a $300,000 loan Text 3...Hey haven't seen you in a while check this site out Text 4...Your car's extended warranty is up go to this site before it's too late I hate them all...
Here’s the deal with ‘ugly house buyers’. They’re looking for distressed, desperate owners that accept a price. They will suck them in then tell them that there’s some delay but they ‘know someone’ they can broker the deal with that other person. Then they will turn around and sell the property to investors. They never actually buy any houses. They’re middle men.
I usually get calls for that one but they are just as annoying. If I didn't want to sell my home a month ago what makes you think I want or even trust some random person to do so now for me? Sigh... We can send a man to the moon but can't stop robocalls and texts...
I report these to att by trxting 7726, but don't know if useful since some are spoofed or thru email There's a few apps that reduce but don't eliminate them,
There’s been a big uptick in spam txts over the last couple weeks. From once or twice a year to one a day.
What annoys me most is, I get them as part of a huge group, so then everyone has my phone number. I can only delete them, but with SMS, I don't see an option to "report as spam" or "report as phishing" like in Gmail. I also don't seem to be able to "leave the conversation" or "block all the numbers in the conversation". Any advice?
I started getting it 3 days ago now as well. I am interested that it seems to have simultaneously commensed for people that have no real demographic overlap living in geographically unrelated areas. That seems to imply a massive coordinated rollout, which lends credence to some of the more paranoid interpretations of what's going on. I went into the messaging app, and disabled notifications for the two versions of this I received. The messages still come, but I don't see them unless I open the messaging app or I guess if someone starts a new group text from a new number. It also prevents me from accidentally sending a "mark as read" reply to the a-holes responisible, which I had to work hard to avoid doing when I first got the first of these messages. That was the best I could come up with.
