It will be a nightmare if Chet comes here. Given that he will take years to reach whatever potential he has, it's going to be painful to see how many impatient Rockets fans call him a bust.
Should fans be expected to wait years for paid professionals to develop? Maybe Hasheem Thabeet would've gotten it together if we were just patient and gave him 5 more years.
Was Thabeet drafted by the rockets as their top pick? Nah, he was traded to them 2 years after with a 1st round pick to go along with it and yeah fans should be expected to wait for a 19 year old kid to develop bc in reality it doesn't happen overnight. that should actually be common sense
It is up to the org but most players don't get to their peak for 3 or 4 years....and some longer depending upon what age they came into the league. DD
We've seen that if it's up to the organizations they will draft every Sebastian Telfair out there and turn 1/3 of the teams into a developmental league. NBA really needs to make it 3 years out of high school before you're draft eligible. I don't mind watching a player grow into their prime, but watching them still learning the fundamentals of the game on a professional level is insufferable.
As bad as Green played for most of the season, he earned and deserved every criticism he received. He was awful. He looked lost. He was an embarrassment at the dunk contest. We are all thrilled that he has "turned it on." We want him to do well, but his beginning was terrible.
I disagree, he was a 19 year old kid, growth and development is expected when he plays for the worse team in the league in one of the worse possible situations possible for a rookie of his talent and skill set. He deserved criticism for sure, but deserving of every criticism he got coming his way? I highly doubt it.
The "criticism" from his own hometown fanbase was ridiculous. Most normal fans on here saw the potential in him despite his poor play in the beginning. Believe it or not, his turnaround wasn't a shock to a lot of people. It's one thing to say he looks lost out there. It's another to say he's a bust and we should have picked Mobley because of 15 games.
14.6 ppg pre ASB; 21.3 ppg post, and that's before today's game. I'd say he flipped the switch. If he's still 3-4 years from hitting his peak...watch out!
